LOW-COMPLEXITY LLR COMPUTATION FOR NONUNIFORM QAM CONSTELLATIONS
A device for use in demodulating modulated signals by determining a value for a log likelihood ratio. The device has a storage device to store executable instructions and a processor to execute the instructions stored on the memory device. The processor is configured to, when executing the instructions: receive a modulated signal which is to be demodulated using a constellation diagram comprising a plurality of constellation points which are identified by binary reflected Gray-labelled codes; identify, for a bit of the Gray-labelled codes, a closest complementary constellation point to the signal when considering the signal as a point on a representation of one-dimension of the constellation diagram; identify a hard decision point, wherein the hard decision point is the closest constellation point to the signal when considering the signal as a point on a representation of one-dimension of a constellation diagram; and a complementary constellation point is a constellation paint which has a different value for the bit compared to the hard decision point; and determine a value for a log likelihood ratio using the hard decision point and the closest complementary constellation point. Some devices identify a closest complementary constellation point to the signal, a second closest complementary constellation point to the signal, a hard decision point and an auxiliary hard decision point and determine a value for a log likelihood ratio using the hard decision point, an auxiliary hard decision point, the closest complementary constellation point and the second closest complementary constellation point.
Method and apparatus for data transmission using multiple transmit antennas
A method and apparatus for increasing the data rate and providing antenna diversity using multiple transmit antennas utilize a set of bits of a digital signal to generate a codeword. Delay elements may be provided in antenna output channels, or, with suitable code construction, delay may be omitted. n signals represent n symbols of a codeword are transmitted with n different transmit antennas. At the receiver, the noisy received sequence is decoded. The parallel transmission and channel coding enables an increase the data rate over previous techniques, and recovery even under fading conditions. The channel coding may be concatenated with error correction codes under appropriate conditions.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERFERENCE ESTIMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS
An apparatus including a processor configured to receive a digital communication signal, wherein the digital communication signal includes a common reference signal and transmitted data. The processor determines a first interfering channel matrix for a first interfering cell based on a channel estimation of the common reference signal, and estimates a first power offset ratio and a first effective pre-coding matrix for the first interfering cell by evaluating a maximum likelihood metric, wherein the maximum likelihood metric is based on a first interfering channel correlation. The processor then reconstructs a channel covariance matrix based on the estimated first power offset ratio and the first effective pre-coding matrix and detects the transmitted data based on the reconstructed channel covariance matrix.
DETECTION OF REPETITIVE DATA SIGNALS
There is provided an apparatus for detecting repetitive information in data packets communicated between a first node and a second node over a wireless network. The apparatus includes a processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to: (a) collect samples of a data communication signal transmitted between said first node and the second node over said wireless network at a plurality of respective times; (b) group the collected samples into a plurality of sequences of samples; (c) combine the sequences of samples into at least one united signal; and (d) based on an analysis of the at least one united signal, provide a signal indicative of repetitive information in a plurality of data packets carried by said data communication signal.
TRANSMISSION METHOD, TRANSMISSION DEVICE, RECEPTION METHOD, AND RECEPTION DEVICE
A decoding device includes: a BP decoder that performs BP decoding on an input signal: a maximum likelihood decoder that performs maximum likelihood decoding on a signal subjected to the BP decoding; and a selector that selects one of the input signal, the signal subjected to the BP decoding, and a signal subjected to the maximum likelihood decoding. In a configuration of the decoding device, when a decoder is appropriately operated according to quality of data, a calculation scale can be reduced, and power consumption can be decreased.
Transmitter diversity technique for wireless communications
A simple block coding arrangement is created with symbols transmitted over a plurality of transmit channels, in connection with coding that comprises only simple arithmetic operations, such as negation and conjugation. The diversity created by the transmitter utilizes space diversity and either time or frequency diversity. Space diversity is effected by redundantly transmitting over a plurality of antennas, time diversity is effected by redundantly transmitting at different times, and frequency diversity is effected by redundantly transmitting at different frequencies: Illustratively, using two transmit antennas and a single receive antenna, one of the disclosed embodiments provides the same diversity gain as the maximal-ratio receiver combining (MRRC) scheme with one transmit antenna and two receive antennas. The principles of this invention are applicable to arrangements with more than two antennas, and an illustrative embodiment is disclosed using the same space block code with two transmit and two receive antennas.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR BLIND DETECTION OF INTERFERENCE PARAMETERS IN LTE SYSTEM
A method and an apparatus. The method includes receiving a signal including a serving signal and an interference signal; applying a Gaussian approximation (GA) on the serving signal and the interference signal; determining, jointly, a maximum likelihood (ML) solution of rank, traffic to pilot ratio (TPR), and precoding matrix index on the GA-applied serving signal and the GA-applied interference signal. The apparatus includes an antenna for receiving a signal including a serving signal and an interference signal; a processor configured to apply a GA on the serving signal and the interference signal, and determine, jointly, an ML solution of rank, TPR, and precoding matrix index on the GA-applied serving signal and the GA-applied interference signal.
CHANNEL QUALITY ESTIMATION FOR LINK ADAPTATION WITHIN INTERFERENCE LIMITED SYSTEMS
To process received wireless signals received in a receiver, a noise and interference estimate is generated by subtracting the serving cell component from the received OFDM signal, a normalized noise signal is produced by whitening the noise and interference estimate, interference information is detected from the normalized noise signal associated with corresponding reliability information indicating reliability of the interference information, interference cancellation is performed based on the interference information, and a performance indicator indicative of an accuracy of the interference cancellation is adaptively adjusted using the reliability information.
