The aspects described herein may enable an apparatus to jointly encode two or more payloads using a single polar encoder device, while providing unequal error protection for the payloads. The apparatus causes a polar encoder to polar encode a first payload and a second payload to generate a polar encoded codeword. The polar encoder is configured to encode one or more bits of the first payload at a first reliability level and encode one or more bits of the second payload at a second reliability level, where the one or more bits of the first payload are associated with a first priority level and the one or more bits of the second payload are associated with a second priority level. The apparatus transmits the polar encoded codeword.

In some aspects, a base station may transmit, to a group of user equipment (UEs), a multi-user packet including a plurality of transport blocks combined into a combined transport block, wherein each transport block, of the plurality of transport blocks, is separately encoded using a particular encoding procedure and aggregated into the combined transport block; receive, from one or more UEs of the group of UEs, hybrid automatic repeat request feedback indicating a decoding failure of one or more transport blocks of the multi-user packet; and retransmit one or more packets to convey the one or more transport blocks subject to the decoding failure. A Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder is coupled to the logic to encode at least a second portion of the data bits in accordance with a Reed-Solomon error code to generate second error check bits. A symbol mapper modulates the Ethernet block data bits in accordance with an SQ64 constellation comprising back-to-back PAM8 symbols.

The encoding device also encodes and modulates the stored information by schemes indicated by the modulation/encoding information, and transmits a frame formed by attaching the header to the payload, the header being formed with a first region and a second region, the first region storing the modulation/encoding information, the second region storing the stored information. The present technology can be applied to devices that perform wireless communication using a 60 GHz band, for example.
