METHOD OF AND A SESSION MANAGEMENT FUNCTION FOR PROVISIONING A USER PLANE FUNCTION, A METHOD OF AND A USER PLANE FUNCTION FOR PROCESSING USER TRAFFIC AND A METHOD OF AND CHARGING FUNCTION FOR CHARGING USER TRAFFIC

A method of and a Session Management Function, SMF, for provisioning processing rules for user traffic at a User Plane Function, UPF, in a core network of a telecommunication network are disclosed. The core network comprises an Access and Mobility Management Function, AMF and a Policy Control Function, PCF. The SMF first transmits to the PCF a request for obtaining processing rules for user traffic; the SMF then receives from the PCF processing rules enabling at least one of a Uniform Resource Identifier, URI, level processing policy and a Server Name Indication, SNI, level processing policy for the user traffic and provision the received processing rules with the UPF. The UPF can then process user traffic based on the provisioned processing rules, differentiating the user traffic at the more detailed URI and/or SNI level.

A policy control function receives, from a mission critical video (MCVideo) application function, a DIAMETER AA-Request (AAR) command comprising an attribute value pair (AVP) comprising an MCVideo-identifier identifying an MCVideo service. The policy control function sends, to a network function, a Diameter command comprising one or more QoS policies based on the MCVideo-identifier.

Support for envelope reporting

A method for supporting envelope reporting in a radio communication network having a control plane, CP, function separated from a user plane, UP, function, is presented. The method is performed in a CP node of the radio communication network and comprises setting (S100) a time quota mechanism, TQM, in a usage reporting rule, URR, to which its corresponding service data flows, SDFs, are applicable for envelope for envelope reporting, setting (S100) at least one reporting trigger in the URR, to instruct the UP function to generate a usage report upon closure of an envelope, setting (S100) a measurement method in the URR, to instruct the UP function to collect usage of volume, time and/or event, sending (S110) the set URR to the UP function, receiving (S120) one or more usage reports from the UP function, in response to the sent URR, wherein the received usage report(s) comprises at least a usage report trigger set to envelope closure, determining (S130) a starting time and/or an ending time for each envelope, based on the received usage report(s), and storing (S140) each envelope, with the determined starting time and/or ending time, for online or offline charging. A CP node, a UP node, a computer program and a computer program product are also presented.

Data-plan-based quality setting suggestions and use thereof to manage content provider services

A user device described herein suggests a change to a quality setting associated with the consumption of content from one or more content providers. The change is suggested based both on a user's data plan and on a service quality of content received by the user device. This user-selected quality setting is then provided to the telecommunication network, which reduces network resources available for transmission of the content based on the quality setting. Such reduced network resources cause the content providers to provide content at a service quality no greater than the quality setting. Also, the user may be presented with or defaulted to selecting an option for a program offering consumption of the video content free of charge when provided to the user at a limited service quality. When the user participates, consumption of video content is then conditionally excluded from a consumption metric of the data plan.

Oversubscribable resource allocation

There is disclosed in one example a computing apparatus, including: a hardware platform configured to communicatively couple with a multi-tenant cloud service, the multi-tenant cloud service including an oversubscribable resource; and a service assurance for oversubscribable resource (SAOR) engine configured to: receive tenant subscriptions to the oversubscribable resource, wherein tenant subscriptions exceed available instances of the oversubscribable resource; receive per-tenant quality of service (QoS) metrics for the oversubscribable resource; receive an allocation request from a guest for allocation of an instance of the oversubscribable resource; compare the request to currently-available instances of the oversubscribable resource; determine that the oversubscribable resource has capacity to service the request according to the QoS metrics of the tenant; and allocate an instance of the oversubscribable resource to the guest.

Dynamic auto-configuration of multi-tenant PaaS components

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe configuration agents, or “config-agents,” that can identify new PaaS component configuration information when a software system instance is deployed or updated without requiring a developer to manually configure each PaaS component instance whenever a new software system instance is installed or updated. In some examples, config-agents retrieve new configuration information from configuration files associated with the software system instances such as ConfigMaps and/or Custom Resource Objects of a Custom Resource Definition type operated on by the config-agents. The config-agents can keep track of each software system instance and PaaS component instance and ensure that necessary configurations are passed onto PaaS component instances.

Metering cloud workloads at edge computing devices

A system meters execution of an application module at an edge computing device. A secure workload package is transmitted securely from a workload provisioning service to the edge computing device. The secure workload package includes the application module, a trusted metering application, and a provisioning service authentication token. The provisioning service authentication token is verified in the secure workload package based on an edge device authentication token generated at the edge computing device. The trusted metering application is executed in a trusted execution environment of the edge computing device, responsive to verifying the provisioning service authentication token. The application module of the edge computing device is executed, wherein the trusted metering application is configured to monitor execution metrics of the application module on the edge computing device. The execution of the application module is managed based on the monitored execution metrics.

Automated managing of a data center installation

Automated managing of a data center installation is provided. The managing includes evaluating, at least in part by image processing analysis, a captured image of at least a portion of the data center installation to identify a component-related deficiency within the data center installation. One or more measurements within a data center are used to determine an energy penalty due to the identified component-related deficiency within the data center installation, and an action to correct the component-related deficiency within the data center installation is initiated based on the energy penalty exceeding a predefined threshold.
