Methods and apparatus for automating various aspects relating to the design and/or deployment of monitoring systems, e.g., systems which can monitor for fire, break-ins and/or other conditions are described. In various embodiments a customer provides location and customer premises layout information as well as an indication of what is to be monitored. A rules database is accessed and a plan that is compliant with local rules is automatically generated. A user is walked through deployment of components, e.g., on his cell phone or other handheld communications device, in an easy to follow manner with monitoring device position, wireless communications ability, and function being checked automatically as part of the process as each sensor is deployed. If wireless connectivity is a problem suggestions are presented to the user for moving a sensor, e.g., camera. At the end of the process the system is activated and monitoring of the premises initiated.

Technologies for providing stream metadata to clients

Technologies are disclosed for providing stream media content and/or metadata indicating stream media content. A media control device may receive a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) request from a media content device. The DLNA HTTP request may have a header created by the media content device. The media control device may interpret the DLNA HTTP request header. A first metadata may be identified in the DLNA HTTP request header that may indicate a request for stream media content information. The media control device may send a DLNA HTTP response to the media content device. The DLNA HTTP response may have a header that may include a second metadata indicating the stream media content information. The second metadata may include information enabling construction of a HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) master playlist, a program map table, and/or a program association table associated with the stream media content.

MULTI-SERVICES APPLICATION GATEWAY AND SYSTEM EMPLOYING THE SAME

An intelligent gateway device provided at a premise (home or business) for providing and managing application services associated with use and support of a plurality of digital endpoint devices associated with the premises. An interaction of a user with the application of the external operating facility is detected and the communications connection between the external operating facility and the household appliance is terminated in dependence upon an expiration of a predetermined time interval since a last detected interaction of the user with the application of the external operating facility.

The user credential is caused to be automatically associated with the app as installed on the smart device.

A protocol for controlling lighting devices within a network enables bidirectional communication between different connected devices, any of which may function as a server, a device, a broker, or multiple of these roles. Upon initialization of the network, a server device requests a basic configuration data file from each device on the network and, thereafter, requests a more extensive configuration data file identifying capabilities and functionalities of the device which the manufacturer has made discoverable. Each device sends its basic configuration file to the server device upon any of power on, reboot, reset, hardware configuration change, or software change to the respective device. A device on the network can also be a collection of sub-devices each of which may be separately identified, and their respective capabilities evaluated, so that the server can separately control either the device or any of the individual sub-devices.

The computing device may determine to update a configuration of one or more devices at the premises, such as the gateway device or the control device. Configuration data may be sent to the gateway device to update the configuration.

Methods and systems for provisioning and managing internet-of-thing devices over a network

Methods for provisioning and managing Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices over a network using device based tunneled nodes are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, by a first network device in a network, data originated from an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device; identifying a device type of the IoT device by analyzing data packets of the received data; obtaining, by the first network device, a device profile for the IoT device, wherein the device profile is used for provisioning the IoT device to access the network; and provisioning the IoT device using the device profile, wherein the provisioning includes at least one of (1) identifying a tunneling attribute in the device profile; and (2) identifying a constrained application protocol (CoAP) parameter in the device profile, wherein the CoAP parameter is used to zero touch provision one or more device attributes of the IoT device. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.
