Forming a security network including integrated security system components and network devices
11489812 · 2022-11-01 · ·

An integrated security system is described that integrates broadband and mobile access and control with conventional security systems and premise devices to provide a tri-mode security network (broadband, cellular/GSM, POTS access) that enables users to remotely stay connected to their premises. The integrated security system, while delivering remote premise monitoring and control functionality to conventional monitored premise protection, complements existing premise protection equipment. The integrated security system integrates into the premise network and couples wirelessly with the conventional security panel, enabling broadband access to premise security systems. Automation devices (cameras, lamp modules, thermostats, etc.) can be added, enabling users to remotely see live video and/or pictures and control home devices via their personal web portal or webpage, mobile phone, and/or other remote client device. Users can also receive notifications via email or text message when happenings occur, or do not occur, in their home.

AUTHENTICATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLERS

Systems and methods to authenticate a controller having a user interface with a manually actionable control include randomly selecting a first position of the plurality of positions of the manually actuable control, prompting a user to position the manually actionable control to the randomly selected position, receiving an indication of the present position of the manually actionable control, comparing the indication of the randomly selected position with the indication of the present position, and authenticating the controller when the indication of the randomly selected position matches the indication of the present position.

Sensor communications by vibrations

In an example implementation, a sensor communication system includes a sensor to sense a condition and to include the condition in a message formatted in a communication protocol. The system includes a vibration actuator placed in contact with a building structure and operatively coupled to the sensor. The vibration actuator is to transmit the formatted message through the building structure as a vibration pattern, and an accelerometer is to detect the vibration pattern. A receiver hub coupled to the accelerometer is to decipher the condition from the vibration pattern.

Systems and methods of verifying installation of building automation devices

Methods and systems may be configured to verify proper installation of Internet Protocol (IP) connectable building automation devices by installers at remote sites. The installers may be a crowdsourced installers. A service provider may engage an installer to install one or more IP connectable building automation devices. To ensure verification that the one or more IP connectable building automation devices are installed properly, parameters or values based on data from installed IP connectable building automation devices may be provided to or determined by a blockchain network. The blockchain network may compare the parameters or values to thresholds and automatically provide an indication as to whether the parameters or values meet or exceed the thresholds (e.g., verification criteria).

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING HDMI CEC

Methods, systems and apparatuses are described to detect and resolve device configuration and/or communication incompatibilities (e.g. incompatible messages, improper addressing, malfunctions) for a communication protocol such as HDMI-CEC.

HDMI SMART SWITCH

Methods, systems and apparatuses are described for intelligent device integration. A device (e.g., an HDMI “smart” switch) with multiple communication interfaces (e.g., HDMI, LAN, BT, IR) may monitor communications for control signals from multiple controllers configured to control respective devices (e.g., HDMI source, sink and/or switch devices). A device LAN may couple HDMI source and sink devices and non-HDMI devices. LAN communications may be monitored for device and control information. Control signals from controllers may be used to control devices that the controllers and their control signals are not configured to control. Interpreted control decisions may be based on, for example, an interpreted control in the context of a detected configuration and/or state of devices. A device may, thereby, expand the utility of incompatible controllers (without reprogramming), integrate an environment of incompatible devices and controllers, and provide relief to end-users.

The invention relates to a node for communication between a first network and an second network and coupled to a controller in the second network via a first communication route. The node and controller form a virtualised home gateway platform. The node is arranged to access a second communication route and also to couple to the controller via the second communication route upon connection failure of the first communication route. This reconnects the node to the controller thereby maintaining a route for transmission of data streams and downloads into the home environment but also re-establishes control signalling within the virtualised home gateway platform and therefore also within the home network. A system for performing gateway functions between a first network and an second network, and a method of maintaining connection between a node and a controller, are also described.

There is provided an information processing device, including a processing unit configured to associate, based on a captured image obtained by imaging a remote controller including an operation device and an operation signal transmitted from the remote controller in response to an operation on the operation device, the operated operation device with the operation signal.

SECURITY NETWORK INTEGRATING SECURITY SYSTEM AND NETWORK DEVICES

Systems and methods for a security network integrating security system and network devices are disclosed. A system may comprise a gateway and first and second security panels, each located at a premises. The first and second security panels may be connected, via respective first and second wireless communication protocols, to respective first and second security system components. The first and second security panels may receive respective first and second security data from the respective first and second security system components. The gateway may be configured to receive, via the first and second wireless communication protocols, the respective first and second security data. The gateway may be configured to transmit at least one of the first security data and the second security data to a security server located external to the premises.

TECHNIQUE FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF A PERIPHERAL DEVICE IN A SERVICE AREA OF A LOCAL NETWORK
20170245133 · 2017-08-24 ·

The invention relates to a technique for determining the presence of a peripheral device (23, 26) in a service area of a local network (2). The local network includes a gateway (20) for accessing a communications network (1) and at least one relay device (21, 24). The peripheral device and the relay device(s) are arranged to communicate with other devices via a radio-access network. The access gateway controls at least one relay device, so that the latter scans frequencies for accessing the radio-access network. When the relay device receives an announcement message from the peripheral device, said relay device transmits a notification of detection of the peripheral device to the access gateway. The peripheral device is then identified as being present in the service area.
