A method for determining a channel impulse response (CIR) estimation in ultra-wideband (UWB) communication using a supercomplementary zero-sum correlation (SZC) sequence block is provided. The method includes, obtaining, from a memory, a basic sequence of N chips and having perfect periodic autocorrelation function (PACF), N being an odd number. The method also includes performing, by a shifting logic, a circular shift of the chips in the basic sequence by a shift number to obtain a shifted sequence, the shift number being a positive number less than N. The method also includes computing, by an inverting logic, an inversion parameter of the shifted sequence. The method also includes computing, by the inverting logic, a output sequence based on the shifted sequence and the inversion parameter; and receiving, by an antenna, a transmitted sequence. The method further includes performing, by a correlator circuit, cross-correlation between the output sequence and the received sequence.

Power grid surveillance via topology detection system using power line communications (PLC) is provided by observing, at first and second times, first and second signals, respectively, sent via PLC between a plurality of nodes in an electrical grid; generating first and second lists for a given node of the plurality of nodes of channel impulses responses (CIRs) for the given node to communicate with other nodes in the plurality of nodes respectively based on the first and second signals as observed; identifying from the first list and the second list a certain node with a highest variation in CIR between the first time and the second time; sending a first token for the given node from the given node to the certain node via PLC; and in response receiving a second token from the certain node at the given node, generating a topology change alert.

Reference signal channel estimation

Aspects of this disclosure relate to reference signal channel estimation. A wireless communication channel between two nodes can be estimated based on a received reference signal, such as a Sounding Reference Signal. Techniques are disclosed to improve performance of reference signal channel estimation and make channel estimates more robust in the presence of one or more of a variety of impairments. Frequency domain processing and/or time domain processing can be performed to reduce distortion in channel estimates.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for suppressing channel replica caused by carrier frequency offset (CFO). The method includes: generating, by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a plurality of samples after receiving a sequence of chips by an antenna; accumulating, by an accumulator, the plurality of samples to generate an initial channel impulse response (CIR); comparing the CFO with a threshold value; in response to the CFO being greater than the threshold value, applying a filtering operation on the initial CIR estimate, the filtering operation configured to reduce an intensity of a sidelobe in the initial CIR estimate while maintaining an intensity of a main lobe in the initial CIR estimate; and generating a final estimated CIR based on the filtered initial CIR estimate.

The method may include estimating, based on a first signal-phase in a plurality of signal-phases associated with an input signal, a first channel impulse response; estimating, based on a second signal-phase in the plurality of signal-phases, a second channel impulse response; selecting, based on at least one characteristic of the estimated first channel impulse response and the estimated second channel impulse response, a signal-phase from the plurality of signal-phases; equalizing, based on the selected signal phase, the input signal to produce an equalized signal; and outputting, to a symbol detector, the equalized signal. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.
