System and method for direct storage access in a content-centric network
One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for caching content data to a storage device attached to a node in a content-centric network (CCN). During operation, the system receives a content packet; forwards the content packet to an incoming port of an interest in the content packet; caches a copy of the content packet in the attached storage device, assembles a query; which includes at least a network header and an address associated with storage blocks at which the cached copy of the content packet is located, corresponding to the content packet; and stores the query in a cache table, thereby facilitating a subsequent direct access to the storage blocks using the assembled query to retrieve the copy of the content packet.
Systems and Methods for Translating IPV6 Packets for DIA in an SD-WAN Environment
In one embodiment, a method includes determining, by a router, a common prefix pool from a transport interface associated with a transport virtual private network (VPN). The method also includes identifying, by the router, a prefix associated with a service VPN and generating, by the router, an IPv6-to-IPv6 Network Address Translation (NAT66) prefix translation using the common prefix pool and the prefix. The NAT66 prefix translation includes a predetermined prefix length. The method further includes automatically installing, by the router, the NAT66 prefix translation into a translation table.

Directory Assisted Routing of Content in an Information Centric Network
A method is disclosed. The method includes: obtaining, by an authoritative directory router in an information centric network (ICN), a publish message associated with a publisher node and including: an identifier associated with a content item; and a first anchor prefix for a first anchor directory router for the publisher node; determining that a bidirectional code for the identifier falls within an authoritative code range assigned to the authoritative directory router; and updating, in response to the bidirectional code falling within the authoritative code range, a local code repository associated with the authoritative directory router with the first anchor prefix and the identifier.

EFFICIENT ALGORITHM TO ELIMINATE REDUNDANT SPECIFIC PREFIXES IN FORWARDING INFORMATION BASE USING TRIE
A network element and method for programming a network element that includes detecting an update to a first route in a routing information base (RIB) is disclosed. The method includes locating a first route network prefix associated with the first route within a network prefix trie (NPT); determining that, prior to the update, a first parent network prefix and the first route network prefix were reachable using a pair of different next hops connected to the network element; and determining that, after the update, the first parent network prefix and the first route network prefix are reachable using a first common next hop connected to the network element. The method also includes removing an existing forwarding information base (FIB) entry in the FIB associated with the first route network prefix.

Method for implementing a consistent hashing in a communication network
A method for use in a communication network is provided. The method comprises the steps of: (i) providing a plurality of network processing units (NPU's) comprised in the communication network; (ii) establishing a replication of at least one of the NPU's; (iii) virtually arranging the NPU's and the replication(s) in a ring configuration; (iv) associating a unique primary virtual identification and a corresponding unique backup virtual identification with each active and available entity selected from among the plurality of NPU's and replication(s); (v) establishing a list of hash values, each associated with the primary virtual identification or the backup virtual identification of a corresponding active and available entity; (vi) implementing a ring consistent hashing algorithm for carrying out a search resolution for a consistent hashing; and (vii) in a case of a change in an active and available entity having a certain primary virtual identification, using the corresponding backup virtual identification to maintain the ring continuity.
