NETWORK BANDWIDTH SHARING IN A DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING SYSTEM
20170324678 · 2017-11-09 ·

A bandwidth sharing system is provided that has worker nodes with executor threads for copying data from source nodes to destination nodes based on assigned copy jobs. To execute its assigned copy job, a worker thread of a worker node registers its copy job with the source node. The source node allocates a portion of its bandwidth to the copy job. The source node sends the data of the copy job to the worker thread, and the worker thread forwards the data to the destination node. Upon completion of the copy job, the worker thread deregisters the copy job. The deregistration allows the source node to reallocate the portion of its bandwidth that was allocated to the copy job to another copy job.

Alleviating congestion in a virtual network deployed over public clouds for an entity

A method for deploying different virtual networks over several public cloud datacenters for different entities. For each entity, the method (1) identifies a set of public cloud datacenters of one or more public cloud providers to connect a set of machines of the entity, (2) deploys managed forwarding nodes (MFNs) for the entity in the identified set of public cloud datacenters, and then (3) configures the MFNs to implement a virtual network that connects the entity's set of machines across its identified set of public cloud datacenters. In some embodiments, the method identifies the set of public cloud datacenters for an entity by receiving input from the entity's network administrator. In some embodiments, this input specifies the public cloud providers to use and/or the public cloud regions in which the virtual network should be defined. Conjunctively, or alternatively, this input in some embodiments specifies actual public cloud datacenters to use.

A communication device and method for operating a communication system for transmitting time-critical data, wherein a respective individual time window within predefined time intervals is specified for data flows assigned to selected control applications running on terminals, where time windows each have an individual cycle time that is a multiple of a general cycle time or corresponds to the general cycle time, first and second communication devices each check, for the selected control applications, whether a specified time window is available for data transmission, where information about a beginning of the time window within the predefined time intervals is in each case transmitted to the terminal upon which the respective selected control application is executing in the event of an available time window, and where data flows that are assigned to selected control applications are each transmitted according to the information about the beginning of the individual time window.

Link aggregation (LAG) information exchange protocol

In one embodiment, a switch includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor to receive details about which link aggregation (LAG) information about a first peer switch will be exchanged with the switch, send to the first peer switch, prior to receiving the LAG information about the first peer switch, details about which LAG information about the switch will be exchanged with the first peer switch, receive the LAG information about the first peer switch, store the LAG information about the first peer switch, and use the LAG information about the first peer switch and the LAG information about the switch to determine load balancing across one or more connections between the switch and the first peer switch.

On-Demand Access to Compute Resources

Disclosed are systems, methods and computer-readable media for controlling and managing the identification and provisioning of resources within an on-demand center as well as the transfer of workload to the provisioned resources. One aspect involves creating a virtual private cluster within the on-demand center for the particular workload from a local environment. A method of managing resources between a local compute environment and an on-demand environment includes detecting an event associated with a local compute environment and based on the detected event, identifying information about the local environment, establishing communication with an on-demand compute environment and transmitting the information about the local environment to the on-demand compute environment, provisioning resources within the on-demand compute environment to substantially duplicate the local environment and transferring workload from the local-environment to the on-demand compute environment. The event can be a threshold or a triggering event within or outside of the local environment.

Systems and methods for acknowledgement in media processing
11399077 · 2022-07-26 · ·

A sub-system and method for a network-based media processing (NBMP) system including a first entity and a second entity that each include at least one processor, the method including receiving, by the first entity of the NBMP system from the second entity of the NBMP system, a request, including a parameter having a value, to perform an action with the first entity by using the value of the parameter; and transmitting, by the first entity of the NBMP system to the second entity, an acknowledgement that indicates whether the value of the parameter is accepted by the first entity to perform the action.
