CLOUD TRANSLATION MECHANISM
20210399994 · 2021-12-23 ·

A system to facilitate communication between a cloud system and an edge server is described. The system includes one or more processors to execute a translation service to receive a first request operation from a cloud service, wherein the first request operation comprises a first communication protocol supported by the cloud service, translate the first request operation to a second communication protocol supported by a first edge server, wherein the second communication protocol is different from the first communication protocol and transmit the translated first request operation to the first edge server.

Resource allocation in a wireless mesh network environment

A mesh network management resource receives connectivity status information indicating wireless connectivity amongst multiple wirelessly interconnected access points in a mesh network and multiple clients. Based on the received connectivity status information, the mesh network management resource allocates portions of wireless bandwidth in the mesh network to wirelessly communicate between a root access point in the mesh network and each of the multiple interconnected access points. The root access point transmits messages over the allocated portions of wireless bandwidth from the root access point through the multiple interconnected access points to the multiple clients. According to one configuration, the mesh network management resource allocates use of wireless bandwidth amongst the wirelessly interconnected access points in the mesh network based at least in part on class of service information assigned to different subscribers in the mesh network environment.

Safe oversubscription of connection tracking entries

Techniques for safe oversubscription of connection tracking entries are described. A method for safe oversubscription of connection tracking entries may include receiving a request for an allocation of a resource on a physical host in a provider network, the request received by a resource allocation monitor from an instance hosted by the physical host, determining a resource availability on the physical host, the resource availability based on a total amount of the resource on the physical host, a reserved amount of the resource to a plurality of instances hosted by the physical host, and a shared amount of the resource, and granting or denying the resource allocation based at least on the determined resource availability.

Allocating Resources

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for allocating resources. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, from a resource requester, a first request statement specifying a first computing resource, a first bid for the first computing resource, a total quantity of the first resource requested by the resource requester, and a minimum quantity of the first resource that the resource requester is willing to accept. A second request statement can be received from the resource requester that specifies a second bid for the second computing resource and a condition statement specifying that the second bid is only valid if the first computing resource will be allocated to the resource requestor. A determination can be made that allocation of the second computing resource and at least the minimum quantity of the first resource to the resource requestor will achieve a resource allocation objective.

RESOURCE RESERVATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE AND RESOURCE RESERVATION MANAGEMENT METHOD

[Problem] When a resource reserved in a resource sharing system become unavailable, the reservation is efficiently reset.

[Solution] A resource sharing system 10 shares resources 30 with a plurality of users 20 (user terminals). A resource reservation management device 42 includes: a reservation setting unit 402 that accepts a reservation request for the resource 30 from the user 20, and sets a reservation on a predetermined resource 30 in the resource sharing system 10; and a reservation changing unit 404 that resets the reservation to another resource 30 in the resource sharing system 10 in case the predetermined reserved resource 30 becomes unavailable. if the other resource 30 has insufficient resource capacity, the reservation changing unit 404 resets the reservation to the other resource 30 based on a reservation changing policy defining which reservation is preferentially reset out of the reservation to be reset.

Cloud-native clusters are disclosed and configured to for an edge cloud. The edge cloud includes using private infrastructure to include edge stations that are configured to perform cloud-native applications. The edge stations are geographically closer to end users and end user devices.

BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT AND CONFIGURATION METHOD FOR CLOUD SERVICE, AND RELATED APPARATUS

A bandwidth management and configuration method for a cloud service is provided, the method including configuring a shared bandwidth package for a tenant of the cloud service, the at least two IP addresses sharing the shared bandwidth package, and the at least two IP addresses being configured by the tenant, and; configuring at least one sub-bandwidth package of the shared bandwidth package, the at least one sub-bandwidth package being bound to at least one IP address; performing rate limiting management on packet traffic based on the at least one sub-bandwidth package and the shared bandwidth package. On a premise that a bandwidth policy of the shared bandwidth package is met, different bandwidth policies may be independently set for different sub-bandwidth packages. In this way, rate limiting on selected traffic can be performed more finely and flexibly.

User-Based Data Tiering

Techniques are provided for user-based data tiering. In an example, a computer maintains a first-in-first-out queue that logs a finite set of users that have most-recently modified a file. This queue can be maintained in an extended attribute of an Mode that corresponds to a file. A computer can also maintain a policy that defines how to perform storage tiering on a file based on which users have accessed the file. When a tiering operation is performed, the files specified by a corresponding tiering policy can be evaluated for which users have recently accessed them. When a user specified by the tiering policy has recently modified a file, the file can be placed in tiering queue for tiering.
