STORAGE INTERFACE COMMAND PACKETS OVER FIBRE CHANNEL WITH TRANSPORT AND NETWORK HEADERS AS PAYLOADS
In some examples, a system includes a Fibre Channel (FC) interface to communicate over an FC network, and a network stack including a network layer and a transport layer. Machine-readable instructions are executable to produce a command packet including a payload including data for transmission to another system, the payload further including headers for the network layer and the transport layer, where the command packet is according to a storage interface protocol. The FC interface is to communicate the command packet over the FC network.
Violation detection and isolation of endpoint devices in soft zoning environment
Systems and methods for handling soft zoning violations comprise assigning a first target device and an endpoint device that is coupled to a switch port of a Fibre Channel (FC) switch to a zone(s). In embodiments, in response to the endpoint device logging into the FC switch, sampled traffic that originates at the endpoint device and ingresses at the switch port may be obtained. In response to determining that the sampled traffic comprises a second traffic that is intended for a second target device that has not been assigned to the zone(s), some action to restrict the second traffic may be performed such as to restrict the non-assigned traffic and prevent devices from sending potentially harmful traffic to other devices that are not assigned to a same zone.
Plastic drive caddy assembly
A drive caddy assembly comprises a plastic frame and a plastic faceplate that includes a plastic tab and a plastic spring that moves along a spring axis that is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the drive caddy assembly. The plastic spring is configured to compress from a resting state along the spring axis without moving perpendicular to the spring axis during insertion of the drive caddy assembly into a drive receptacle of a storage server, and is further configured to return to the resting state when the drive caddy assembly is fully seated in the drive receptacle. The plastic tab extends from a side of the plastic spring and is configured to engage with the drive receptacle in a manner that translates a force on the drive caddy assembly along the longitudinal axis into a force on the plastic spring along the spring axis.
Technologies for data center multi-zone cabling
Technologies for connecting data cables in a data center are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, racks of the data center are grouped into different zones based on the distance from the racks in a given zone to a network switch. All of the racks in a given zone are connected to the network switch using data cables of the same length. In some embodiments, certain physical resources such as storage may be placed in racks that are in zones closer to the network switch and therefore use shorter data cables with lower latency. An orchestrator server may, in some embodiments, schedule workloads or create virtual servers based on the different zones and corresponding latency of different physical resources.
Techniques to configure physical compute resources for workloads via circuit switching
Embodiments are generally directed apparatuses, methods, techniques and so forth to select two or more processing units of the plurality of processing units to process a workload, and configure a circuit switch to link the two or more processing units to process the workload, the two or more processing units each linked to each other via paths of communication and the circuit switch.
System and method to provide multicast group membership defined relative to partition membership in a high performance computing environment
Systems and methods for providing multicast group (MCG) membership relative to partition membership in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, by allowing a subnet manager of a local subnet to be instructed that all ports that are members of the relevant partition should be set up as members for a specific multicast group, the SM can perform a more efficient multicast-routing process. It is also possible to limit the IB client interaction with subnet administration conventionally required to handle join and leave operations. Additionally, subnet manager overhead can be reduced by creating a spanning tree for the routing of multicast packets that includes each of the partition members added to the multicast group, instead of creating a spanning tree after each multicast group join request is received, as conventionally required.
TECHNIQUES TO CONTROL SYSTEM UPDATES AND CONFIGURATION CHANGES VIA THE CLOUD
Embodiments are generally directed apparatuses, methods, techniques and so forth determine an access level of operation based on an indication received via one or more network links from a pod management controller, and enable or disable a firmware update capability for a firmware device based on the access level of operation, the firmware update capability to change firmware for the firmware device. Embodiments may also include determining one or more configuration settings of a plurality of configuration settings to enable for configuration based on the access level of operation, and enable configuration of the one or more configuration settings.
TECHNOLOGIES FOR DYNAMICALLY MANAGING RESOURCES IN DISAGGREGATED ACCELERATORS
Technologies for dynamically managing resources in disaggregated accelerators include an accelerator. The accelerator includes acceleration circuitry with multiple logic portions, each capable of executing a different workload. Additionally, the accelerator includes communication circuitry to receive a workload to be executed by a logic portion of the accelerator and a dynamic resource allocation logic unit to identify a resource utilization threshold associated with one or more shared resources of the accelerator to be used by a logic portion in the execution of the workload, limit, as a function of the resource utilization threshold, the utilization of the one or more shared resources by the logic portion as the logic portion executes the workload, and subsequently adjust the resource utilization threshold as the workload is executed. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Read-coherent group memory
A data distribution system includes a data distribution module and at least two host-bus adapters coupled to the data distribution module. The data distribution system includes a memory-management system including a plurality of memory regions. The memory-management system is coherent across the plurality of memory regions and an absolute address of each of the plurality of memory regions accessed by a same offset.
Efficient distribution of peer zone database in fibre channel fabric
Provided are techniques for the efficient distribution of peer zone databases in a FC Fabric. In an example, a switch instantiates a peer zone definition defining a peer zone in which two or more initiator host devices are each permitted to communicate with one or more target storage devices via the switched FC fabric and the two or more initiator host devices are prevented from communicating with each other. The switch stores the peer zone definition in a peer zone database at the FC switch, and distributes the peer zone definition to other FC switches of the switched FC fabric without performing a Fabric lock operation.
