Technology for a local user equipment (UE) operable to perform video conferencing with a remote UE is disclosed. The local UE can define a region of interest (ROI) within a field of view of a camera of the remote UE. The local UE can map the ROI to one or more pan, tilt, zoom and focus (PTZF) commands. The local UE can send the one or more PTZF commands to the remote UE, wherein the remote UE is configured to identify the ROI based on the one or more PTZF commands. The local UE can receive encoded video within the ROI from the remote UE. The encoded video can include the regions within the ROI at an increased zoom level while substantially maintaining a defined quality level to enable the encoded video within the ROI to be rendered and displayed at the local UE.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for migrating between terminals. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network proxy having a controller that manages a communications interface in a communication system. The controller can be programmed to receive a request to migrate a first terminal to a third terminal while active communications are taking place on a first voice channel connecting the first terminal to a second terminal, establish a second voice channel with the third terminal, connect the first and second voice channels, and terminate without action of an end user of the first terminal a connection between the first terminal and the first voice channel. Methods and systems for an intelligent network protection gateway (NPG) and network architecture are provided. According to one embodiment, a firewall provides network-layer protection to hosts of a private network against unauthorized access by hosts of an external network by performing network address translation (NAT) processing of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. The firewall also provides application-layer protection on behalf of the hosts and supports Voice over IP (VoIP) services by processing signaling protocols associated with VoIP sessions. An external VoIP interface of the firewall receives incoming VoIP packets each associated with a VoIP port of the external interface. The packets are directed to an appropriate host by the firewall performing port address forwarding based on a mapping of VoIP ports to private addresses of the hosts.

A method of processing first and second record packets of real-time information includes computing for each packet a deadline interval and ordering processing of the packets according to the respective deadline intervals. A single-chip integrated circuit has a processor circuit and embedded electronic instructions forming an egress packet control establishing an egress scheduling list structure and operations in the processor circuit that extract a packet deadline intervals, place packets in the egress scheduling list according to deadline intervals; and embed a decoder that decodes the packets according to a priority depending to their deadline intervals.
