Providing a user experience on a multimodal communications terminal configured to communicate according to a plurality of communication includes: executing a single application that provides a user experience (UX) for controlling user selection of preferences of the plurality of communication methods when originating or receiving communication sessions; and providing, via the single application, a selectable control that is persistent such that the selectable control is displayed in any screen of the single application, wherein the control allows selection of one of the plurality of communication methods to use for a particular communication session.

A request to establish a communication session with a second communication device is received. The request to establish the communication session comprises one or more routing attributes for routing the communication session. The one or more routing attributes for routing the communication session are looked up in a dynamic routing framework. The communication session is routed to a third communication device or destination instead of the second communication device based on the one or more routing attributes and one or more rules defined in the dynamic routing framework. For example, the communication session is routed to a specific contact center queue based on the routing attribute instead of initially being routed to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.

Methods and systems for managing NAC privileges based on communication context awareness are provided. In one aspect, a method includes detecting, by a network server, a collaboration session between at least first and second users and retrieving, by a network server from a directory server, a first role of the first user that corresponds with privileges including a first quality of service level. Further, the network server retrieves a second role of the second user that corresponds with privileges including a second quality of service level. Also, the method includes determining that the first quality of service level is greater than the second quality of service level and assigning the second user at least the privileges corresponding to the first role. The collaboration session is conducted between the first user and the second user based on the privileges assigned to the second user that correspond to the first role.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for migrating between terminals. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a network proxy having a controller that manages a communications interface in a communication system. The controller can be programmed to receive a request to migrate a first terminal to a third terminal while active communications are taking place on a first voice channel connecting the first terminal to a second terminal, establish a second voice channel with the third terminal, connect the first and second voice channels, and terminate without action of an end user of the first terminal a connection between the first terminal and the first voice channel.
