A data communication method and a related apparatus are provided, and the data communication method includes: constructing, by an access device, a beacon frame, where the beacon frame includes a newly added field, and the newly added field represents multiple data guard interval lengths supported by the access device; and broadcasting, by the access device, the beacon frame, so that a terminal selects an available guard interval length matching a data guard interval length supported by the terminal from the beacon frame, and performs data communication with the access device by using the available guard interval length. By using the present invention, data communication between the access device and the terminal can be implemented when the access device supports multiple data guard interval lengths.

A media device and methods that identify playback states reachable from a current content playback state and identify a reachable state that is likely to occur, are disclosed. A memory associated with the media device may receive frames that enable a smooth transition between the playback state and the reachable state. The media device may receive frames that correspond to points in the content that are separated by an amount of time that is proportional to the playback rate of the likely state. The frames may be frames corresponding to an image that may be played back at the playback rate of the likely state.

One specific embodiment of the method comprises: receiving viewing permission setting information, wherein the viewing permission setting information is used for representing viewing permission of viewing a live broadcast stream of a multimedia conference; on the basis of the live broadcast starting state of the multimedia conference and the viewing permission setting information, determining whether to push the live broadcast stream of the multimedia conference to a requester who requests the live broadcast stream; and in response to determining to push the live broadcast stream of the multimedia conference to the requester, pushing the live broadcast stream of the multimedia conference to the requester. According to the embodiment, the flexibility of pushing a live broadcast stream of a multimedia conference is improved.

Methods and systems for generating and sharing media clips are described. Consistent with some embodiments, while a selection of digital media content (e.g., a movie, television program, audio track, and so on) is being presented at a media player, a user creates one or more sets of waypoints (e.g., time markers) that define the boundaries (e.g., beginning and end) of one or more media clips. These waypoints are communicated from one media player device to another, enabling the receiving media player device to retrieve and play back the media clips from a source other than the media player device where the waypoints were generated.
