In an embodiment, a method for adaptively transmitting content to one or more users based on currently available bandwidth via internet protocol (“IP”) multicast protocol, includes: receiving a first content stream having a plurality of data packets, the first content stream encoded at a first bit rate; receiving a second content stream having a plurality of data packets, the second content stream encoded at a second bit rate, wherein the first bit rate is different than the second bit rate and wherein the first and second content streams represent the same content; transmitting the first content stream to a user; determining that the user could receive the second content stream based on available bandwidth for transmitting data to the user; and transmitting the second content stream to the user.

Method and system for generating bandwidth adaptive segment file for HTTP based multimedia streaming service

Provided is a method and system for generating a network bandwidth adaptive content, the method including: measuring bandwidth information of a transmission channel formed between a content server and a reception terminal; generating a target content by converting a source content to be transmitted to the reception terminal, at a transmission bitrate that is determined based on the bandwidth information; transmitting the generated target content to the reception terminal; and storing information on the target content in a dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) (DASH) media presentation description (MPD) file.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CORRECTING NETWORK LOSS OF DATA

A reference-order AL-FEC system for recovering network video data packet loss during real-time video communication includes a packetizer, a reference-order AL-FEC encoder, a reference-order AL-FEC decoder and a depacketizer. The packetizer constructs source symbols from source packets of a current frame. The encoder generates a repair symbol from the source symbols of the current frame and other reference frames based on the reference-order, not time-order, between the frames within an encoding window. The encoder also generates a repair packet based on the repair symbol. The decoder recovers a lost source symbol based on the source symbols of the frames of the encoding window and the repair symbol by decoding the repair packet. The decoding is achieved by solving a linear system of the repair symbol.

A process includes establishing a peer-to-peer connection between a first client computing device and a second client computing device. The first client computing device is associated with a first participant in a coordinate grid environment provided by an application and the second client computing device is associated with a second participant in the coordinate grid environment. The process includes determining that a coordinate grid state of the first participant has experienced a state change, and in response, providing at least a portion of first participant state information associated with the state change from the first client computing device to the second client computing device via the peer-to-peer connection such that the at least the portion of the first participant state information updates previously stored first participant state information of the first participant maintained by the second participant associated with the second client computing device.

A method, decoder and server for managing buffers for rate pacing. The decoder includes a memory, a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal, and processing circuitry operably connected to the memory and the transceiver. The processing circuitry receives, from the server, a removal rate message indicating a drain rate of a pacing buffer of the decoder. The processing circuitry also provides packets from the pacing buffer to a decoding buffer of the decoder according to the drain rate.

Bit Stream Switching In Lossy Network

Coding and decoding techniques are disclosed in which a plurality of coding parameter sets is transmitted between an encoder and a decoder, each of which is distinguishable from the others by a respective identifier. When a new frame of video is to be coded, an encoder may identify a coding parameter set to be applied during coding, it may code the new frame according to the identified coding parameter set, and it may transmit the coded frame to the decoder along with an identifier of the coding parameter set used during the coding. A plurality of coding parameter sets is persistent at an encoder and the decoder simultaneously.

Dynamic quality adjustment based on changing streaming constraints

A method and apparatus for dynamic quality adjustment of digital media based on changing streaming constraints is provided. A digital media server sends a digital media stream according to a set of streaming constraints to a requesting client. Audio and visual information may be sent to a requesting client together in a single stream, or separately in multiple streams. A client sends a request over a control network to the digital media server indicating information of a particular type is no longer desired. In response to receiving the signal, the video server ceases transmission of that particular type of information to the signaling client, thus relaxing streaming constraints. As a result of the techniques described herein, an improved quality digital presentation is available for the client and, consequently, when a viewer signals that a particular type of information is not desired, that particular type of information is not transmitted to the client, which thereby reduces the streaming constraints on a video streaming service, and improved quality digital media information may be sent to any client using the freed-up portion of the bandwidth previously allocated to the signaling client.
