Encoding output for streaming applications based on client upscaling capabilities
In various examples, the decoding and upscaling capabilities of a client device are analyzed to determine encoding parameters and operations used by a content streaming server to generate encoded video streams. The quality of the upscaled content of the client device may be monitored by the streaming servers such that the encoding parameters may be updated based on the monitored quality. In this way, the encoding operations of one or more streaming servers may be more effectively matched to the decoding and upscaling abilities of one or more client devise such that an increased number of client devices may be served by the streaming servers.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADAPTIVE BIT STREAMING USING CONSUMPTION CONTEXT
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include a method including steps of, for each segment of a content item during presentation of a content item, obtaining current consumption context information, determining a current consumption context for the segment according to the consumption context information, selecting a filtered set of audio track and video track variants for the segment according to the current consumption context and track variant information, selecting an audio track and a video track for the segment from the filtered set of audio track and video track variants according to a dynamic network condition, receiving a data stream for the segment from a server over a network including the audio track and the video track for the segment, and presenting the segment of the content item according to the audio track and the video track via a video output and an audio output. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Set up and distribution of immersive media to heterogenous client end-points
A method, computer program, and computer system is provided for streaming immersive media. Information corresponding to a characteristic of a client associated with media content is received based on the transfer of one or more tokens. A packaging process is associated with the media content using the one or more tokens. The media content is adapted according to the characteristic of the client based on the associated packaging process.
Methods and apparatus for determining and using enclosure state information
An enclosure state, e.g., enclosed or not enclosed, of a communications device is determined based upon one or more of: i) a selected set of environmental sensor measurements, performed by the communications device, ii) a corresponding set of expected outdoor environmental conditions, e.g., sourced from a weather server, iii) weighting factors corresponding to each of the environmental conditions, and/or iv) a threshold value. The communications device performs one or more actions based on the determined enclosure state, enclosed, e.g. indoors, or not enclosed, e.g. outdoors. Exemplary actions include controlling a transmitter or receiver setting, communicating the enclosure state determination to an emergency responder or controlling an application resident on the communications device based on the determined enclosure state. Various exemplary actions contribute to efficient use of communications device resources, e.g., battery power and air link resources and/or contribute to increasing efficiency and/or safety with regard to emergency responses.
Apparatus and method for session initiated protocol (SIP) registration procedure for access network bitrate recommendation (ANBR) capability signaling
In some embodiments, during the SIP registration, the UE indicates in the REGISTER requests its support for ANBR as defined by ANBR attribute in the SDP and the P-CSCF indicates its support for the ANBR attribute in the SDP in the response for registration. In some embodiments, the P-CSCF serving a PLMN passes through the ANBR attribute in the SDP when the P-CSCF recognizes that the PLMN supports ANBR functionality. In some embodiments, the UE can include ANBR attribute in the SDP offer and answers when the P-CSCF indicates its support for the ANBR attribute in the SDP.
Enhanced block-request streaming system using signaling or block creation
A block-request streaming system provides for improvements in the user experience and bandwidth efficiency of such systems, typically using an ingestion system that generates data in a form to be served by a conventional file server (HTTP, FTP, or the like), wherein the ingestion system intakes content and prepares it as files or data elements to be served by the file server. The system might include controlling the sequence, timing and construction of block requests, time based indexing, variable block sizing, optimal block partitioning, control of random access point placement, including across multiple presentation versions, dynamically updating presentation data, and/or efficiently presenting live content and time shifting.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MULTI-CONTEXT MEDIA CONTROL AND PLAYBACK
A method for controlling media presentation is disclosed. In some implementations, the method is performed at an electronic device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors. The electronic device displays a user interface, the user interface including a control element for media that is provided by a media server associated with a first service provider, the user interface originating from a server associated with a second service provider distinct from the first service provider of the media server. The electronic device receives a user input selecting the control element. In response to the user input, the electronic device sends a media control request to the media server, the media control request causing the media server to control playback of a playlist, including initiating playback of first media content in the playlist associated with the user.
A SERVICE WORKER AND THE RELATED METHOD
A computer-implemented method for streaming media from a remote server in a client web browser supporting an operating streaming protocol is implemented within a client web application comprised in the client web browser. The method involves the following steps: intercepting data communications between the remote server and the client web browser for streaming the media in the client web browser; and converting the data communications into and respectively from the operating streaming protocol when the data communications are implemented in a native streaming protocol different from the operating streaming protocol of the client web browser, thereby allowing the client web browser to stream the media.

Video transcoding method and apparatus, a server system, and storage medium
Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and a server system for transcoding a video source file into multiple target formats. The server system includes a first server configured to receive a first video chunk of the video source file and first attribute parameters corresponding to the first video chunk and a first target format of the multiple target formats where the first video chunk is transcoded into the first target format. The first attribute parameters include a first precoding parameter for the first video chunk and a first coding parameter for the first target format. The first server can process the first video chunk according to the first precoding parameter to obtain a first intermediate coding result and code the first intermediate coding result according to the first coding parameter to obtain a first final coding result in the first target format and output the first final coding result.
