Content caching services in satellite and satellite/IP content delivery systems
11609679 · 2023-03-21 · ·

Systems and methods are presented to facilitate caching of programming from broadcast and/or content streaming services to a user device for local playback. In addition, metadata can be provided to guide the user in selecting, caching, or playing the cachable content. In some exemplary embodiments, a receiver or other user device can automatically select the programming to be cached based on a user's historical topic interest and listening history. In some exemplary embodiments, the metadata can also include DRM information that can limit the ability of a user to playback the content, so as to comply, if necessary, with operative legal requirements related to usage of the content.

System and method for transferring large video files with reduced turnaround time

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, systems and computer program products for transfer of video signals at a destination with reduced turnaround time. According to one embodiment, a method includes performing transfer of a series of video chunks of a video signal, each video chunk of the series of video chunks comprising a sequence of video frames, wherein for each video chunk, one or more processors perform a processing cycle comprising: receiving the sequence of video frames from a source; processing the received sequence of video frames to generate a processed sequence of video frames, wherein receiving of a consecutive video chunk of the series of video chunks comprising a consecutive sequence of video frames is initiated simultaneously while initiating said processing of the received sequence of video frames; and transmitting the processed sequence of video frames for consumption at a destination.

Adaptive resource allocation for media streams over wireless

A method is provided in a wireless access point in a wireless communications network. The method includes obtaining information characterizing a first wireless stream and the second wireless stream transmitted or received by the wireless access point. The information includes at least a wireless channel quality for each of the first wireless stream and the second wireless stream. The method further includes allocating transmission resources to the first wireless stream and the second wireless stream based on the obtained information. In response to a change in quality of the first wireless stream, the method further includes revising the allocation of transmission resources for the first wireless stream based on at least one of a target bit-rate and a target level of smoothness.

W3C MEDIA EXTENSIONS FOR PROCESSING DASH AND CMAF INBAND EVENTS ALONG WITH MEDIA USING PROCESS@APPEND AND PROCESS@PLAY MODE
20220345506 · 2022-10-27 · ·

A method and apparatus for processing events in a media stream may be provided. The method may include obtaining media data; generating, from the media data, one or more event segments and one or more media segments; parsing a respective event from the one or more event segments to determine an event start time, event end time, and dispatch mode; appending the respective event from the one or more event segments to an event dispatch buffer based on a comparison of the event start time and a current playback position, and a determination that the respective event is not present in an already dispatched buffer; and dispatching the respective event based on the position associated with the respective event in the event dispatch buffer, the event start time, the event end time, and the current playback position.

Method and system for real-time transcoding of MPEG-DASH on-demand media segments while in transit from content host to dash client

A system, method and computer program product for real-time post-processing system that transforms MPEG-DASH on-demand media streams, including a DASH media player device; an intercepting media server device; a MPEG-DASH content origin server device; and a proxy media client device coupled to the DASH media player device and the intercepting media server device and configured to intercept MPEG-DASH HTTP requests from the DASH media player device and forward the intercepted requests to the intercepting media server device instead of the MPEG-DASH content origin server device. The intercepting media server device is configured to act as an HTTP proxy device, and forward the intercepted requests to the MPEG-DASH content origin server, and with each corresponding MPEG-DASH media subsegment acquired perform analysis of the video media content within the subsegment and apply selective transcoding.

Picture sharing method, computer device, and storage medium

This application relates to a picture sharing method, a computer device, and a storage medium. The method includes: receiving a picture compressed in a first compression manner; obtaining characteristic information of the picture; compressing the picture in a second compression manner in a case that the characteristic information meets a compression trigger condition, to obtain a compressed picture; receiving a picture download request for the picture, wherein the second compression manner has a higher compression ratio than the first compression manner; and returning the compressed picture in response to the picture download request. The solutions of this application reduce a network bandwidth occupied in a picture feedback process.

STREAM ALTERATIONS UNDER LIMITED BANDWIDTH CONDITIONS
20230078266 · 2023-03-16 ·

Stream alterations under limited bandwidth conditions is provided. A router on a local network continuously monitors incoming network traffic from a source external to the local network to detect that a bandwidth of the incoming network traffic exceeds a first threshold. The router sends a request to a source of the incoming network traffic to temporarily redirect the incoming network traffic to an optimization analyzer. Analysis is performed on the incoming streams to identify one or more streams for alteration. In response to identifying one or more of the incoming streams for alteration, for each identified incoming stream, continuously altering the identified incoming stream, and re-directing the altered stream to the local device.

Systems and methods for conducting secure VOIP multi-party calls

System and method for establishing secure conference calls. In one example system, a central conference call server establishes point-to-point connections with accessory devices comprising a secure element and connected to corresponding participant devices. The conference call server includes an interface to a plurality of secure elements configured to perform scrambling and unscrambling of media signals communicated to and from the accessory devices. In another example, one of the participant devices operates as the central conference call server. In other examples, participant devices communicate on a conference call via point-to-point connections between all accessory devices connected to the participant devices. The accessory devices include secure elements for decryption and encryption of media signals communicated between the accessory devices.

System and method for capturing and distributing live audio streams of a live event
11606407 · 2023-03-14 · ·

A system for capturing and distributing live audio streams of a live event to mobile computing devices comprises: processing device(s) in network communication with each other; and at least one memory coupled to each processing device. Processing device(s) having an audio channel receive live audio stream(s) via the audio channel(s), generate and transmit discrete audio data packets therefrom over a first network for receipt by the remaining processing device(s). Copies of the discrete audio data packets are generated and placed in a respective buffer by the processing device(s). A nominated processing device: receives a connection request from a mobile computing device; determines the distribution status the processing device(s); and selects a processing device to provide the requested transmission based on the distribution status. The selected device generates transmission copies from copies stored in the buffer and transmits the discrete audio data packets/transmission copies to the mobile computing device.
