Method and system for workload management for data management systems

A system for controlling access to a downstream database management system (DMS) is provided. The system comprises an interface to maintain client connections with a plurality of upstream clients; a pooling component to establish a dynamic pool, and to selectively route each client connection to a pool; within each pool maintaining a queue comprising client database requests associated with particular client connections; and selectively granting access to the client database requests within each queue to at least one downstream DMS.

Selective access of multi-rate data from a server and/or peer

Aspects of the disclosed subject matter are directed to facilitating peer-to-peer data exchange in a common domain. In accordance with one embodiment, a method is provided for obtaining content from one or more peers that are connected to the domain. The method includes registering a peer with a super-peer when a connection to the domain is established. Then, the connecting peer obtains data that describes various network conditions and identifies chunks of content available from other peers. In downloading content from other peers, heuristics are applied to select between available chunks that are potentially encoded at different bitrates. The heuristics account for the network conditions between peers and balance the potential need to quickly access content with the desire to obtain high quality content.

CONTROLLER DRIVEN RECONFIGURATION OF A MULTI-LAYERED APPLICATION OR SERVICE MODEL

Some embodiments provide novel inline switches that distribute data messages from source compute nodes (SCNs) to different groups of destination service compute nodes (DSCNs). In some embodiments, the inline switches are deployed in the source compute nodes datapaths (e.g., egress datapath). The inline switches in some embodiments are service switches that (1) receive data messages from the SCNs, (2) identify service nodes in a service-node cluster for processing the data messages based on service policies that the switches implement, and (3) use tunnels to send the received data messages to their identified service nodes. Alternatively, or conjunctively, the inline service switches of some embodiments (1) identify service-nodes cluster for processing the data messages based on service policies that the switches implement, and (2) use tunnels to send the received data messages to the identified service-node clusters. The service-node clusters can perform the same service or can perform different services in some embodiments. This tunnel-based approach for distributing data messages to service nodes/clusters is advantageous for seamlessly implementing in a datacenter a cloud-based XaaS model (where XaaS stands for X as a service, and X stands for anything), in which any number of services are provided by service providers in the cloud.

Dynamic load balancing in network centric process control systems
11500690 · 2022-11-15 · ·

A method for dynamic load balancing between nodes in a network centric process control system. The network centric process control system includes a plurality of nodes and each node includes control service components, where each control service component is a separate executable running in a separate operating system process as provided by a real time operating system of each node. The method is performed by a node manager of a node, and the method includes negotiating a load balancing master role between the plurality of nodes, wherein the negotiating is based on an indication of the plurality of nodes representing load balancing cluster nodes, subscribing, in the negotiated load balancing master role, to a load balancing information from nodes of the load balancing cluster nodes, and reallocating, in the negotiated load balancing master role, one or more control logic tasks from one node to another node of the plurality of nodes based on the subscribed load balancing information. A node manager, a computer program, and a computer program product thereof are also presented.

TECHNOLOGIES FOR DYNAMIC ACCELERATOR SELECTION
20230050698 · 2023-02-16 ·

Technologies for dynamic accelerator selection include a compute sled. The compute sled includes a network interface controller to communicate with a remote accelerator of an accelerator sled over a network, where the network interface controller includes a local accelerator and a compute engine. The compute engine is to obtain network telemetry data indicative of a level of bandwidth saturation of the network. The compute engine is also to determine whether to accelerate a function managed by the compute sled. The compute engine is further to determine, in response to a determination to accelerate the function, whether to offload the function to the remote accelerator of the accelerator sled based on the telemetry data. Also the compute engine is to assign, in response a determination not to offload the function to the remote accelerator, the function to the local accelerator of the network interface controller.

The document describes systems and methods for handling local (legacy) devices. A local cloud gateway comprises a plurality of interface connectors of different types to physically connect a plurality of these legacy devices to the cloud, comprising a plurality of distant servers. Developments describe the step of extracting the functional messages out of messages stemming from local legacy devices (e.g. protocol translators), secure communications, logical representations of legacy devices in the cloud (“twins”), administration options, various user interfaces (e.g. buzzer) for seamless configuration and use, the use of one or more actuators (retroactions on the physical world), etc. Software and/or hardware embodiments are described.
