SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STREAMING MEDIA CONTENT DURING UNAVAILABILITY OF CONTENT SERVER

Systems and methods are described herein for streaming during unavailability of a content server. Upon determining that there are conditions indicating buffering issues during delivery of a media asset, a server determines a first group of devices suitable for receiving the media asset from the server and sharing the media asset on a peer-to-peer network. Then, the server determines a second group of devices suitable for receiving the media asset on a peer-to-peer network from a first group device. The server then determines groupings within which to share and receive the media asset. Next, the server transmits instructions to the devices in the first group to maintain in buffer and share certain portions of the media asset with the second group devices within their grouping. Finally, the server updates information detailing the media asset portions the devices are maintaining in buffer and sharing.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING PERMANENT HTTP CONNECTIONS

A system and method are provided to support a scenario where a cluster of HTTP – Hypertext Transfer Protocol – servers has to accept and maintain permanently open HTTP connections with a large number of client devices. The proposed system relies on HTTP/2 and Server-sent Events – SSE – in order to keep connections open and to allow bidirectional message exchange between client and server. It is comprised by following computational entities: at least one connection redirector entity, at least two connection handler entities, a location registry entity and an execution server entity configured to support an API implementation adapted to provide an interface for external systems. The connection between the system and the client device is performed through an internet connection.

The method for an automated IPv6/IPv4 fallback approach in proxy networks is presented. In some embodiments, the method comprises receiving, at a proxy server, a request from a client executing on a client computer for access to a target computer; determining identification-information of the client; determining an address pair including an IPv6 address and an IPv4 address of the proxy server; assigning the address pair to the identification-information of the client; establishing a first communications connection between the client computer and the proxy server using one of IP addresses included in the address pair, and a second communications connection between the proxy server and the target computer using one of IP addresses included in the address pair; and facilitating a network packet flow between the client computer and the target computer using the first communications connection and the second communications connection.

Method and System for Synchronizing Configuration Data in a Plant

A system and method includes partitioning a network into first and second sub-networks connected by a network connection. A first component with first configuration data and a first local server are located in the first sub-network; a second component with second configuration data and a second local server are located in the second sub-network. The first configuration data is stored on the first and second local servers. The network connection is interrupted and the first configuration data is updated on the first local server. The network connection is re-connected, and if the first configuration data on the second local server is unchanged, the first configuration data on the second local server is overwritten.

COMPUTATION OFFLOADING METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

A computation offloading method and an apparatus. In network edge computation offloading, an edge node receives states of computational tasks sent by one or more served terminal devices and determines allocation of computing resources based on received states of one or more computational tasks. Then, the edge node broadcasts the allocation of the computing resources to the served terminal devices, and the terminal devices each determine, based on the resource allocation, whether to offload the computational task to the edge node for computing. Therefore, the edge node and the terminal device each can have a wider capability of sensing an environment in actual decision-making, thereby effectively improving decision-making benefits of the edge node and the terminal device.

Intermediated retrieval of networked content

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses may provide for the intermediated retrieval of applications on a network. A computing device may be configured to receive an application from an application server on a network. Based on, for example, the network conditions between the computing device and the application server, the computing device may query a plurality of intermediary servers. Based on a decision that, for example, the network conditions between the computing device, application server, and a selected intermediary server are better than the network conditions between the computing device and the application server, the computing device may cause the application to be retrieved by a host application of the selected intermediary server. The host application may process and transmit the application to the computing device. The computing device may display the processed application and transmit user input corresponding to the processed application to the intermediary server.

Offline client replay and sync

An example system and method facilitates operation of a networked software application that communicates with a network resource during periods of intermittent network connectivity and includes determining when a networked software application is offline and when it is online; selectively intercepting one or more request messages from the networked software application addressed to a network resource when the software application is offline, resulting in a store of intercepted request messages; detecting when the networked software application transitions from being offline to being online; and selectively issuing the one or more request messages to the network resource in a sequence in which the one or more request messages were stored in the store of intercepted request messages. In a more specific embodiment, the system is implemented via an offline toolkit for capturing REpresentational State Transfer (REST) calls when the networked software application (client) is offline; then selectively replaying the calls when the client reconnects, i.e., goes online.
