Method and apparatus for management of extended mobile device identity information
A method of operating a terminal device to establish a radio resource control connection with network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunications network, wherein the terminal device is associated with a previously-allocated temporary identifier that identifies the terminal device within the wireless telecommunications network; the method comprising: transmitting a first message to the network infrastructure equipment comprising an indication of a first portion of the temporary identifier; and transmitting a second message, which is separate from the first message, to the network infrastructure equipment comprising an indication of a second portion of the temporary identifier.
Mechanism to activate and manage a standalone device for cellular service
Some embodiments relate to methods and systems for initiating and transferring cellular subscription service using associated cellular communication devices. Cellular service may be initiated for a first cellular communication device via a second cellular communication device. The first cellular communication device may be provisioned to operate in an independent mode. In other scenarios, cellular service may be transferred from the first cellular communication device operating in independent mode to a third cellular communication device, which may be provisioned to operate in independent mode.
Identifiers in a wireless communication system
A method performed by a resolver in a core network of a wireless communication system, where the method comprise: receiving, from a requester in the core network, a request to resolve a provided identifier that is one of a subscription identifier and a pseudonym identifier serving in the core network as a pseudonym for the subscription identifier; and transmitting, to the requester as a response to the request, a resolved identifier that is the other of the subscription identifier and the pseudonym identifier.
Enforcing unique handover trigger thresholds for user equipment
Presented herein are techniques to facilitate enforcing unique handover trigger thresholds for user equipment (UE) based on UE identity and/or UE group type. In one instance, a method is provided that may include provisioning a plurality of handover profiles for a plurality of user equipment for a mobile network in which each corresponding handover profile includes a profile identifier and one or more handover thresholds. The method may further include determining that a particular user equipment seeks a connection to the mobile network; identifying a particular handover profile for the particular user equipment, wherein the particular handover profile includes a particular profile identifier; providing the particular profile identifier to a radio access network node of the mobile network; identifying one or more particular handover thresholds for the particular user equipment based on the particular profile identifier; and providing one or more particular handover thresholds to the particular user equipment.
Identity privacy in wireless networks
Systems and techniques are disclosed to protect a user equipment's international mobile subscriber identity by providing a privacy mobile subscriber identity instead. In an attach attempt to a serving network, the UE provides the PMSI instead of IMSI, protecting the IMSI from exposure. The PMSI is determined between a home network server and the UE so that intermediate node elements in the serving network do not have knowledge of the relationship between the PMSI and the IMSI. Upon receipt of the PMSI in the attach request, the server generates a next PMSI to be used in a subsequent attach request and sends the next PMSI to the UE for confirmation. The UE confirms the next PMSI to synchronize between the UE and server and sends an acknowledgment token to the server. The UE and the server then each update local copies of the current and next PMSI values.
Method to select the right UDM instance and ensure the UDM instance security
Methods for (i) finding/discovering the right UDM instances and (ii) ensuring the UDM instance security are provided. The method for (i), includes the steps of: (i-1) pre-provisioning of UDM instance discovery information/parameters to the UE/USIM, (i-2) sending the UDM instance discovery related parameters to a core network element, and (i-3) discovering the right UDM instance at the core network element based on the discovery parameters and related routing information either at the UDM consumer/NRF. The method for (ii) includes the steps of: (ii-1) Secured choice of parameter for UDM instance discovery (e.g. UDM instance identifier) to the core network element and (ii-2) the secured UDM instance identifier generation and management at the UDM to prevent attack on UDM instances. Also a method to identify the cleartext IMSI/SUPI is provided for the re-authentication scenario along with the relevant procedures.
PAGING TIMING COLLISION CONTROL
The present application relates to devices and components including apparatus, systems, and methods for paging timing collision control, with respect to exchange of offset values (e.g., IMSI offset values) between a user equipment and a network.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIA FOR SUPPORTING MOBILE ORIGINATED DATA MULTICASTING IN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
Methods, systems, and computer readable media for supporting mobile originated data multicasting in a communications network.in a communications network are disclosed. One method includes receiving, from a consumer network function (NF) in a communications network, a deliver request message containing mobile originated (MO) data corresponding to a protocol data unit (PDU) session, wherein NIDD context information stored at NEF and referred by a context identifier in the deliver request message includes a subscriber identifier and a data network identifier associated with a user device requesting the PDU session and determining that a rule entry belonging to a plurality of rule entries contained in a multicasting ruleset matches at least one of the subscriber identifier and the data network identifier included in the NIDD context information that is stored at the NEF and referred by the context identifier in the deliver request message. The method further includes accessing a list of NF identity objects in the rule entry in response to determining the rule entry matches at least one of the subscriber identifier and/or the data network identifier and delivering the MO data to each of a plurality of NF endpoints specified in the rule entry in accordance with a routing condition indicated in each of the NF identity objects respectively associated with each of the NF endpoints.
User equipment (UE), evolved node-B (ENB) and methods of paging in accordance with a relay arrangement
Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), an Evolved Node-B (eNB) and methods for communication are generally described herein. An UE may be configurable to operate as an eRelay UE. The eRelay UE may be configured to operate as a relay between an eNB and an eRemote UE. The eRelay UE may receive, from the eRemote UE, a message that includes an identifier of the eRemote UE for paging of the eRemote UE. The eRelay UE may determine whether a first paging message from the eNB includes the identifier of the eRemote UE. If it is determined that the first paging message includes the identifier of the eRemote UE, the eRelay UE may transmit, to the eRemote UE, a second paging message to page the eRemote UE. The second paging message includes the identifier of the eRemote UE.
