The method also includes obtaining a first text string that is a transcription of the first voice signal via a first automatic speech recognition engine using the first voice signal, obtaining a second text string that is a transcription of the first voice signal via input obtained from a device associated with a call assistant, generating an output text string from the first and second text strings that includes one or more words from each of the first and second text strings, and providing the output text string as a transcription of the HU's voice signal for presentation during the session substantially concurrently with the presentation of the HU's voice signal by the second device.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADAPTION OF A TELEPHONIC AUDIO SIGNAL

Systems and methods for adaption of telephonic signal are provided. A telephonic listener's demographic information is first received. Next, a set of preset parameters are retrieved from a database based on the demographic information. The preset parameters are calculated using hearing data, which is representative of a demographic group. These preset parameters are then outputted to a sound personalization digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm. A voice signal is then processed using the sound personalization DSP and the processed voice signal is then outputted at the listener's telephonic device.

The apparatus includes communication elements configured to receive captions from a relay service, and a processor configured to automatically connect to the relay service and establish a captioning communication session during a call responsive to a determination that a connection to the relay service failed during a time in which the hearing-impaired user desired captions to be enabled. A method includes determining captions are desired by the hearing-impaired user at a first time to be enabled for display to the communication device during a call, detecting a failed connection to the relay service at a second time, and automatically connecting with the relay service and establishing a new captioning communication session at a third time during the call.

TRANSCRIPTION GENERATION FROM MULTIPLE SPEECH RECOGNITION SYSTEMS

A method may include obtaining first audio data originating at a first device during a communication session between the first device and a second device. The method may also include obtaining a first text string that is a transcription of the first audio data, where the first text string may be generated using automatic speech recognition technology using the first audio data. The method may also include obtaining a second text string that is a transcription of second audio data, where the second audio data may include a revoicing of the first audio data by a captioning assistant and the second text string may be generated by the automatic speech recognition technology using the second audio data. The method may further include generating an output text string from the first text string and the second text string and using the output text string as a transcription of the speech.

A method to transcribe communications includes the steps of obtaining a voice signal originating at a first device configured for verbal communication with a second device and providing the voice signal to an automated speech recognition system configured to transcribe the signal. Before determining a final transcription, the method obtains a first hypothesis transcription including one or more first words determined to be a transcription of at least a first portion of the voice signal and a second hypothesis transcription including a plurality of second words determined to be a transcription of at least a second portion of the voice signal that includes the first portion of the voice signal, determines one or more consistent words included in both hypothesis transcriptions, and in response, transmits the consistent words to the second device for presentation before the final transcription of the voice signal is provided to the second device.

The method may further include selecting a user profile of the multiple user profiles that includes the data element that matches the first device data in response to the first device data matching a data element of the multiple data elements. The method may also include loading an audio profile for the selected user profile on the user device.
