Multiple devices ringing coordination

A method includes accessing, at a first user device, an application that coordinates ringing of multiple user devices registered to a smart phone number that are within a predetermined proximity of each other. The method includes broadcasting an identity and a ring state associated with the user device. A presence is to be detected within the predetermined proximity of at least one additional user device associated with the smart phone number. The method includes determining a ringing user device based on predetermined rules of selection between the at least one additional user device and the first user device. The method further includes determining activity to be performed by at least one other user device in event of an incoming call to the smart phone number. The method also includes receiving an incoming call at the smart phone number and ringing the ringing device.

Individuals often place calls on behalf of a group or collection of individuals. As provided herein, a caller may access or establish a group number to be presented to a callee. The callee then receives the call, such as by answering, caller identifier display, etc., and may wish to return the call. The callee then places a call to the group, rather than the individual who placed the call, which is then routed to members of the group. Any member of the group may then answer the call, thus avoiding issues associated with the originating caller being unavailable when any member of the group could address the purpose of the call. Additionally, status information may be automatically provided to allow group members to receive activity notification for calls to and/or from the group. For example, an indication that a call to an individual was placed on behalf of the group and, optionally, the status (e.g., answered, voicemail, etc.) of the call.

Voicemail management with multi-number phones

A computer-implemented method for managing voicemails includes receiving, at an intermediate server communicatively coupled to a mobile phone associated with a first phone number corresponding to a first contact group and a second phone number corresponding to a second contact group, a request to receive an incoming call associated with a caller phone number. The intermediate server identifies a contact group associated with the request. The identified contact group comprises the first contact group in response to the received request corresponding to the first phone number, and the identified contact group comprises the second contact group in response to the received request corresponding to the second phone number. The intermediate server selects a voicemail setting based on the identified contact group. In response to determining to route the incoming call to voicemail, the voicemail is configured based at least in part on the selected voicemail setting.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF FORWARDING COMMUNICATION REQUESTS BASED ON HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS IN AN INTERNET PROTOCOL ENVIRONMENT

A IP telephony service allows customers to form user groups. Each user group can include multiple members, each of whom have their own telephony device. When a member of a user group sends an outgoing communication from one of the telephony devices associated with the user group, the service obtains communication handling instructions for the user group. The outgoing communication is then processed in accordance with the handling instructions. This could include sending copies of the outgoing communication to the telephony devices of other members of the user group. This could also include sending the outgoing communication with an origination identifier associated with the user group, rather than an origination identifier associated with the member's telephony device.

A request to establish a communication is received. For example a request to establish a voice communication is received. The request can be forked to a plurality of communication devices based on an address of record. The address of record is an address associated with multiple communication devices of the same user. The request to establish the communication is stored in a call log entry in a call log. An event associated with the call log entry is received. The event is based information associated with a calling device or a communication device that is not initially part of an established communication session. In response to receiving the event associated with the call log entry, the call log entry in the call log is updated based on the event. The updated call log or the updated call log entry is the sent to the plurality of communication devices.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS, COMMUNICATION DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS FOR ROUTING CALLS BETWEEN COMMUNICATION DEVICES HAVING USERS WITH DIFFERENT ABILITIES

A group routing server, communication devices, and related methods are described. The group routing server may comprise a processor operably coupled with communication elements and memory, and be configured to determine a destination communication device from among a plurality of communication devices to which an incoming call is to be routed, determine whether an assistive communication service is needed for providing interpretive services based, at least in part, on differing communication abilities between a far-end user associated with a far-end communication device initiating the incoming call and a near-end user associated with the destination communication device, route the incoming call to the assistive communication service according to the routing rules if the assistive communication device is determined to be needed, and route the incoming call directly to the communication service according to the routing rules if the assistive communication device is not determined to be needed.

A system and method that fork incoming calls to a destination device or a device that is associated with the destination device is disclosed. The system receives a request to register multiple device for IMS services, receives an incoming call to a destination mobile device, identifies one or more associated mobile devices, and determines one or more forked devices. The system transmits a first notification to each forked device, the first notification indicating that the forked device may accept or reject the incoming call request, and the system receives an acceptance or rejection from one or more forked devices.
