Method and apparatus for event notification
A method (300) and apparatus are disclosed for event notification. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a presence services system (PSS) (102) can have a controller (104) that manages operations of a communications interface (110). The controller can be programmed to monitor (302) presence information of a plurality of communication devices of an end user operating in a communications system, and receive (316) a request from a calendar reminder system (CRS) for access to the presence information. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IDENTIFYING A USER OF A MOBILE DEVICE
A method and apparatus for assigning a mobile device that is unassigned to a user are disclosed. Mobile phone numbers are used as a surrogate for device. For example, the method implemented via a processor obtains the phone number that is unassigned from a list of phone numbers associated with a billing account number, assigns the phone number that is unassigned to the user, wherein the user is selected from among a plurality of users associated with the billing account number, determines a confidence level for the assigning of the phone number that is unassigned to the user, and performs an analysis to provide a service for the user to whom the phone number is assigned.
Configuring a vehicle to receive content data
A communication system and methods of using the communication system is described. One method includes configuring a telematics unit in a vehicle with at least one access point name (APN). The steps of the method include: configuring the telematics unit with a default APN prior to a legal transfer of possession of the vehicle; and thereafter, activating the telematics unit for the provision of content data in connection with the legal transfer of possession of the vehicle, wherein the activating includes replacing the default APN of the telematics unit with a geographically-specific APN.
CONFERENCE CALL ALERTS
Conference call alerting is provided. A first device of a plurality of telecommunications devices initiates a telecommunications link between the first device and a second device of the plurality of telecommunications devices. The first device receives an interaction that includes a communications address of a third device of the plurality of telecommunications devices. The telecommunications link is modified to include the third device. In response to the third device joining the telecommunications link, the first device issues an alert to the second device and the third device, wherein the alert indicates that the third device has joined the telecommunications link.
Computer-implemented system and method for detecting events for use in an automated call center environment
A computer-implemented system and method for detecting events for use in an automated call center environment are provided. A plurality of messages is monitored by a call center. Those messages sharing one or more keywords representative of one or more potential events are identified. The one or more potential events are detected based on the shared keywords. At least one of the potential events is identified as an event based on the number of messages that share the keywords representative of that potential event. Metadata regarding the event is extracted from the messages sharing the keywords representative of the event. A message regarding the event that includes the extracted metadata is generated. The generated message from the call center is provided to at least one user related to the event.
PROCESS FOR MANAGING THE CONNECTION OF USERS THROUGH THEIR TERMINALS TO A MULTIMEDIA CONFERENCE SESSION
Process for managing the connection of users through their terminals to a multimedia conference session provided by a multimedia conference service in a network, said process providing, as a user connects to said session, for muting said user in said session, for broadcasting a multimedia content on the terminal of said user, said process further providing for, as an activity event happens into said session, for temporarily interrupting said broadcasting and for unmuting said user in said session.
FAILOVER ANNOUNCEMENTS
To handle a failover condition, a media server receives a request, from a first application server, to stream a first media message in a media channel of a communication session. The first media message is streamed in the media channel of the communication session by the media server. Once the first media message has ended, a status message can be sent to the first application server to determine if the first application server has failed. If a response to the status message is not received (i.e., because the first application server has failed), the media server can stream a second media message during a period where a second application server is failing over for the first application server. If a response to the status message is received, the second media message is not streamed.
Alerts for Messages
Scores, fight songs, and other sports oriented alerts are provided for electronic communications. Different network addresses may be associated with different sports teams. When a communications request is processed, sports scores and video highlights may be played as ringtones to alert of an email, text, or call.
PROVIDING MISSED CALL AND MESSAGE INFORMATION
Information associated with messages and/or missed calls is provided to a subscriber. Calls received but not answered by the subscriber may be monitored. Each monitored call is classified as one of a missed call and a message. The monitored calls may be summarized based on a customizable rule set to create a summary. The summary is provided to the subscriber via, for example, a voice notification.
