Systems and methods are provided to facilitate donations via mobile communications. In one aspect, a system includes a data storage facility and an interchange having a common format processor and a plurality of converters to interface with a plurality of different controllers of mobile communications. The converters are configured to communicate with the controllers in different formats and with the common format processor in a common format. For a payment to a merchant, the common format processor provides a user interface configured to present charity donation options in response to a phone number being specified in the user interface to identify a fund source. The common format processor uses one of the converters to communicate with a mobile phone at the phone number to confirm the payment to the merchant and a donation to a separate charity organization specified via the user interface.

A method and system for payments for mobile phone payments with a disabling feature is disclosed. The method includes activating a mobile phone containing contactless payment systems, and having a timeout feature disable the contactless payment systems after a set period of time.

Detection of a delinquent mobile device

A method and system of detecting a delinquent mobile user device. An international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) of a subscriber identity module (SIM) card of the user device is determined by the user device. The IMSI is sent to a Remote Recovery Server (RRS). A message is received from the RRS as to whether the IMSI is authorized for the user device. Upon determining that the IMSI is not authorized for the user device, a notification is displayed on a display of the user device.

Systems and methods are disclosed to facilitate payment of a restaurant bill via text message. For example, a text message having a restaurant bill code may be sent from a customer device to an MPS phone number. A restaurant network address may be extracted for a restaurant computing system. A query may be sent to the restaurant computing system using the restaurant network address with the restaurant bill code. In response, the restaurant computing system may send restaurant bill data that includes least one restaurant menu item, a price for the at least one restaurant menu item, and a total bill amount. A unique URL may be created that when entered into a web browser presents a webpage that includes at least the restaurant bill data. The unique URL may be used by the customer to pay the restaurant bill.

In one embodiment, a method of serving media includes receiving a delivery log of traffic use after every first time interval for an user equipment. The user equipment is part of a hot billing class of users. The traffic use comprises data usage by the user equipment during communication with a media server in a layer2 access network. A user traffic information computed from the delivery log is transmitted to a billing center. A account status information is received from the billing center. The account status information is received if the user equipment exceeds a user account metric. A session termination information based on the account status information is transmitted.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO ALLOCATE BANDWIDTH BETWEEN SUBSCRIBERS OF A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

Methods and apparatus to allocate bandwidth between first and second subscribers of a communications network are disclosed. An example method includes, based on a projection that a first data allotment for a first network access account of the first subscriber within a time period will be exceeded, identifying the second subscriber. The first and second subscribers are in a same subscriber group. The second subscriber is projected to have a second network data usage that is below a second data allotment for a second network access account of the second subscriber within the time period. The first and second subscribers have different billing addresses. Assent from the second subscriber to transfer a portion of the second data allotment to the first subscriber is determined. In response, the portion of the second data allotment from the second network access account is transferred to the first network access account.

A method and system of restoring a functionality of a mobile user device. A lock screen is displayed on the display of the user device. An international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) of a subscriber identity module (SIM) card presently installed in the user device is determined. The IMSI is sent to a Remote Recovery Server (RRS). A message is received from the RRS indicating whether the IMSI is authorized for the user device and whether an account of the user device is replenished at least in part. Upon determining that the IMSI is authorized for the user device and the account of the user device is replenished at least in part, at least one function that was previously restricted is restored.

In one embodiment, a method of serving media includes receiving a request to serve media content to an user equipment, and receiving caching information regarding the media content. The caching information includes information regarding whether the media content requested by the user equipment is cacheable. A first media server is assigned from a hierarchical set of media servers to serve the user equipment if the media content to be served is cacheable. The hierarchical set of media servers includes a plurality of first type of media servers deployed in a plurality of layer2 (L2) access networks. The user equipment is coupled to the content delivery network through a layer2 access network of the plurality of L2 access networks.

A third-party data balance transfer system enables a user of a wireless service network to transfer a data balance to another user of the wireless service network. For example, a third-party data balance transfer system may provide an interface to receive a request from a donor to transfer a data balance to a recipient. A third-party data balance transfer system may verify that the donor is eligible to transfer a data balance, and that the recipient is eligible to receive data. The third-party data balance transfer system may forward a message to the recipient when the eligibility of the donor and recipient are verified. The message may include instructions that direct the recipient to perform certain actions to activate the transfer a data balance. The third-party data balance transfer system may detect when the recipient performs the actions, and the third-party data balance transfer system may update account records for the wireless service network to enable the recipient to access the data balance transfer.
