The present information processing apparatus externally receives print data and a print quality criterion as a print job, analyzes the received print data, and extracts an object for which a print quality criterion can be designated. The information processing apparatus also analyzes the received print quality criterion and, based on a result of the analysis, determines whether or not a print quality criterion corresponding to the extracted object is designated in the received print quality criterion. The information processing apparatus also performs a predetermined notification if a print quality criterion corresponding to at least one extracted object is not designated in the received print quality criterion as a result of the determination.

In a case where a user manually selects an image to be converted into a monochrome image with distinguishability, the user is to take labor and may select an image unsuitable for conversion into a monochrome image with distinguishability. An attribute in a page of print data is analyzed for each page, and based on the attribute of the page, a distinguishability improvement method that performs conversion into gray data by using density difference or outline emphasis is switched.

According to one embodiment, there is provided an information processing apparatus including a controller. The controller is configured to acquire abnormality prediction information relating to a predicted abnormality concerning operation of the information processing apparatus. The controller is configured to generate equipment information based on the abnormality prediction information acquired by the controller. The controller is configured to output the equipment information generated by the controller.

An image processing apparatus includes a display device and a processor. The processor is configured to generate a first screen for display on the display device and on which one of a plurality of malfunctioning part candidates of the image processing apparatus and one of a plurality of timings at which a particular sound was output by the image processing apparatus that malfunctioned, are selectable, when a first malfunctioning part candidate and a first timing are selected on the first screen, generate a second screen for display on the display device and on which one or more reference sounds corresponding to the particular sound are selectable, and when one of the reference sounds is selected on the second screen, generate error information indicating the first malfunctioning part candidate and the selected reference sound.

A light source adjustment apparatus is disclosed. The light source adjustment apparatus includes processing apparatus to receive a scanned image of a pattern printed by a print apparatus onto a printable medium, the pattern including a plurality of blocks of print agent of a first colour printed during a printing operation in which light sources of a light source array irradiate a photoconductive surface; analyse the scanned image to identify a region of non-uniformity within the plurality of blocks of print agent; correlate a location of the identified region of non-uniformity with a corresponding light source in the light source array; determine, based on the identified region of non-uniformity, an adjustment to be made to a parameter of the corresponding light source; and generate a signal to effect the determined parameter adjustment with regard to the corresponding light source. A method and a print apparatus are also disclosed.

An image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes a print engine to be used to perform an image forming job, a motor to start the print engine, a driving circuit to supply a power to the motor and to include a sensor to sense a size of current of the power supplied to the motor during an operation to perform the image forming job, and a processor to detect an occurrence of jam based on a size of current sensed by the sensor in a first time interval while the motor is driven and a size of current sensed by the sensor after a determined time from the first time interval.

A method and an apparatus for handling image forming abnormality, and an image forming apparatus are provided. The method is applied to the image forming apparatus and includes acquiring a print job from a control terminal and analyzing the print job to obtain an analysis result. When the analysis result is a failed analysis, whether a control program installed on the control terminal is abnormal is determined accordingly. The control program is a program which enables the control terminal to exchange the print job with the image forming apparatus. If the control program installed on the control terminal is abnormal, an abnormal-driving information page is generated and printed to output. By printing to output the abnormal information page, the user can be effectively and clearly informed of the cause of the printer abnormality, which improves the efficiency and user experience of abnormality resolution.

An image inspection apparatus includes a designated area acquisition device that acquires information related to an area designated in a recording medium, wherein when trial printing is instructed, a read image of an image printed on the recording medium in the trial printing and an image of the area generated on the basis of the information related to the area acquired by the designated area acquisition device are combined.

An inkjet printer includes a control unit that counts the number of retries of communication between the control unit and a storage device and communication between the inkjet printer and a host computer and records the same in the storage unit. The control unit can also derive an installation environment level of the installation environment of the inkjet printer based on at least one number of retries recorded in the storage unit, and output the derived installation environment level to a display unit.
