Systems and methods for print job management on a printing device

Devices and methods for managing print jobs on a printing device having a plurality of output media trays are disclosed. The method includes monitoring a print job in an active state, the print job is associated with a predetermined output media tray. The print job being switched from the active state to a held state is detected based on a status of at least one of a first set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions being negative for the print job. A new incoming print job received at the printing device is identified. A second set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions are determined for the new incoming print job. Finally, the printing device is triggered to print the new incoming print job for producing prints via an alternate output media tray while the print job is in the held state.

INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD

An information processing system includes a processor configured to: obtain instruction information for an image forming apparatus and an inspection result within a range of a setting condition which has been set in advance, the inspection result being obtained by an inspection apparatus which inspects an image formed on a recording medium by the image forming apparatus on the basis of the instruction information; and output an abnormality monitoring result obtained in accordance with division-by-division-basis counts of abnormalities in an inspection, the divisions being obtained by dividing an inspection area inspected by the inspection apparatus.

An image reading apparatus according to an embodiment includes an image reading unit that generates reference data by reading a reference surface and generates image data by reading a sheet. A reference plate includes the reference surface for generating the reference data for shading correction of the image reading unit and a background surface for background of a sheet to be read to generate the image data. A control unit controls the positions of the image reading unit and the reference plate to be at a first position relative to each other when the reference data is to be generated and at a second position relative to each other when the image data is to be generated. The second position is different from the first position. A shading correction unit performs the shading correction in the image reading unit based on the generated reference data.

Method of printing user form document, image forming apparatus using the method, and computer-readable recording medium

A method of storing data for a user form document received from the outside in an image forming apparatus, in place of a test page that has been stored in the image forming apparatus, and printing the user form document according to a command to print the test page, an image forming apparatus using the method, and a computer-readable recording medium.

An image reading apparatus includes a reading unit that has multiple pixels for performing image reading, a driving unit that outputs a driving signal to the pixels of the reading unit, and a connection unit that connects the reading unit to the main body of the image reading apparatus. An identification signal is inserted by the driving unit at a specific pixel among ineffective pixels that do not react to external light among the pixels of the reading unit, and detection of whether or not the reading unit is connected correctly to the main body of the image reading apparatus by the connection unit is performed by examining the signal level of the specific pixel.

Media reflectance identifiers

In one embodiment, a stated reflectance identifier for a media to be printed on during fulfillment of a print job is received. Utilizing an optical sensor and an illuminator, a measurement is taken of light from the illuminator reflected off the media. The measurement is compared to a stored average brightness value. Responsive to determining the measurement is within a range of the average value, the average value is adjusted to include the measurement, and printing on the media is caused according to the job. Responsive to determining the measurement is outside the range, the measurement is compared to a database associating brightness measurements and reflectance identifiers to determine an estimated reflectance identifier for the media. The estimated identifier is sent to a user and the user is prompted to perform a correction event. The media is printed on according to the job.

A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REQUESTING A STATUS REPORT AFTER RECEIVING AN ERROR ALERT

A method of generating a status report from an image forming device comprises: recording an error notification in real time from the image forming device; analyzing the error notification received, wherein analyzing the error notification comprises: detecting a sequential pattern in the recorded error notification; and analyzing the sequential pattern detected; sending a request to the image forming device for a first status report if the sequential pattern detected in the error notification matches one of pre-stored sequential patterns corresponding to an error for which the first status report is requested; receiving the first status report using bidirectional communication protocols; analyzing data in the first status report; diagnosing the image forming device based on the data analyzed; and generating an action request.
