The image processing circuit board subtracts output of an image sensor when no input light is received, from output of a reading device that reads image data of a subject using the image sensor, discriminates between effective area and invalid area of the image data output by the reading device, and converts the image data of the invalid area into a predetermined output value after the output of the image sensor when no input light is received is subtracted from the output of the reading device.

An image inspection device which enables the user to know the cause of an abnormality in a read image. The image inspection device includes: an image reader outputting a read image generated by reading an image formed on a sheet of paper by an image forming device; an image inspection section inspecting the read image and outputting an inspection result which takes the read image determined not to have an abnormality as a normal image and the read image determined to have the abnormality as an abnormal image; an inspection result report generator generating an inspection result report according to the read image and the inspection result; an inspection result report output section outputting the inspection result report; and a controller performing control to cause the inspection result report output section to output the normal image and the abnormal image in a comparable manner.

An image forming system includes an image forming unit, an inspection unit, a conveyance unit configured to convey a sheet to the inspection unit, a controller configured to execute a first inspection mode in which a sheet having an image formed thereon is conveyed by the conveyance unit to the inspection unit and is inspected, and a second inspection mode in which, without executing image forming by the image forming unit, a sheet is conveyed by the conveyance unit to the inspection unit and is inspected, and a setting unit configured to set a recovery process. The lighting device includes a light source (43), and an irradiation port (61) configured to open linearly in a widthwise direction of the web at an end portion facing the web. The irradiation port (61) is formed between first and second parallel portions (62b, 63b) where a first plate member (62) and a second plate member (63) parallelly face each other. The web under conveyance is irradiated with linear light. It is possible to provide a lighting device capable of irradiating only an inspection region of a sheet or a web with light.

An image forming apparatus has a controller with a first input terminal configured to receive a first signal indicating a state of a first opening/closing portion, a second input terminal configured to receive a second signal indicating a state of a second opening/closing portion, and a third input terminal configured to receive a third signal indicating a state of the first opening/closing portion and the second opening/closing portion. The controller is configured to delay a first notification of an open state of the first opening/closing portion and a second notification of an open state of the second opening/closing portion for a predetermined period after any one of the first signal, second signal, or third signal initially indicates an open state.

An image inspection apparatus includes a processor configured to acquire printing data that is data as a base of an image to be printed, acquire read data that is data obtained by reading the image printed on a paper sheet, perform correction of a blur caused by floating of the paper sheet occurring in the reading of the image, on the read data, and inspect the image by comparing the printing data with the read data after the correction.

A reading apparatus includes a reading device and processing circuitry. The reading device reads a recording medium. The processing circuitry outputs maintenance information based on read information read by the reading device.

An example image forming apparatus includes an image forming apparatus, a processor, and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor. The processor of the image forming apparatus executes the instructions to render a print job, obtain information regarding a pattern for determining print quality from a rendered image of the print job, scan, through the image forming job unit, a document on which the rendered image is printed, and determine the print quality based on a scanned image of the document and the obtained information regarding the pattern.
