The present invention provides an inspection apparatus including a reading unit configured to read a document. The inspection apparatus compares a read image obtained by the reading unit reading a chart including a mark for acquiring distortion information printed by a printing apparatus and a reference image serving as a correct image of the chart, and generates distortion information when reading by the reading unit; and corrects, using the generated distortion information, an inspection target image obtained by the reading unit reading a printed matter from the printing apparatus; aligns the first corrected image corrected in the correcting with a reference image of the printed matter; and compares a second corrected image aligned in the aligning with a reference image of the printed matter to inspect a defect of the printed matter.

An image inspection device includes a hardware processor executing an inspection for a first read image generated by reading a first sheet on which one image is formed, based on a reference image. When an operation for newly generating the reference image is performed in association with the inspection for the first read image, the hardware processor acquires second read images generated by respectively reading second sheets on each of which the one image is formed and generates the reference image using the inspection for the first read image. When an operation for using the generated reference image stored in a storage unit is performed in association with the inspection for the first read image, the hardware processor uses the reference image in the storage unit for the inspection for the first read image, without newly acquiring the second read images.

A firmware of the image forming device stores USB configuration information in a memory when updating the firmware in a normal operation. When updating of the firmware is not completed normally, the image forming device operates a recovery operation by executing a recovery program. The recovery program transmits USB configuration information, which is stored in the memory, to a terminal device when performing USB communication with the terminal device in the recovery operation. Thus, the USB configuration of the normal operation and that of the recovery operation are identical.
