An information processing apparatus includes a first controller and a second controller. The first controller performs processing dependent on hardware having a function. The second controller is connected to the first controller via a communication path and performs processing not dependent on the hardware. The second controller stores an execution command in a storage device. The execution command is for executing processing and has a format not dependent on the hardware. The first controller includes a converter, a memory controller, and an operation controller. The converter acquires the execution command from the storage device and converts the execution command into a command for controlling the hardware and dependent on the hardware. The memory controller writes the converted command into a memory. The operation controller reads the converted command from the memory and controls operation of the hardware.

A print media scanning system enables the rapid acquisition of books, magazines, papers and so on into a digital library. The media is placed on an inclined surface where is held in place and the pages to be scanned are secured by braces. A scanning head is suspended above the media and is adjustable with respect to the media. The data from the scanning head is transferred to a digital library.

A self-contained, integrated ad-hoc transmission system for capturing images of drivers while texting by law enforcement personnel in a law enforcement vehicle, the system includes one or more dumb cameras mounted inside the law enforcement vehicle, a plurality of user-activated switches, and a computer subsystem coupled to the one or more dumb cameras by one or more lines and coupled to a plurality of user-activated switches. The computer subsystem includes at least one processor and a storage device and is configured to safely enable the law enforcement personnel inside the law enforcement vehicle to capture images and/or videos of drivers while texting by activating one of the plurality of user-activated switches to enable one or more of the one or more dumb cameras to capture the images and/or videos of drivers while texting. The processor is further configured to store the captured images and/or videos on the storage device and organize the captured images and/or videos by date and time for ad-hoc transmission to a computer subsystem of a law enforcement entity.

An image processing apparatus includes a display, a first communication interface, and a second communication interface. The image processing apparatus performs operations including transmitting, via the first communication interface, connection information for communication via the second communication interface to a communication terminal, receiving, from the communication terminal via the second communication interface, a transmission destination information to be used in a transmission function of the image processing apparatus for transmitting image data, and displaying, on the display, a screen capable of designating whether or not to use the received transmission destination information as a destination of the transmission function in accordance with having received the transmission destination information via the second communication interface.

A reading device including a reader, a position reference member, and circuitry. The position reference member has a reference pattern along a first direction of the position reference member. The circuitry is configured to detect the reference pattern of the position reference member; determine coordinates of at least two pixels in the second direction, based on the detected reference pattern; calculate a first correction value based on the coordinates determined for the at least two pixels of the reader in the second direction; detect an outer shape and a position of an image pattern on the conveyed object based on data read by the reader; obtain a difference between an image of the conveyed object, of which a shape has been corrected, and an image of the conveyed object, of which a shape has not been correction; and set a second correction value based on the obtained difference.

To provide an image reading apparatus capable of informing a user of the status of the image reading apparatus in a form understandable to the user without increasing a size or a cost, a control method of the image reading apparatus, and a program, explanatory image data is transmitted to a host computer instead of document image data in a case where an abnormality in the image reading apparatus is detected.

A system includes one or more processors to receive a representation of a document from a client computing device, the document comprising one of a scanned document, a faxed document, and an electronic document, determine a document type of the document based at least on the representation of the document, index the document using a classification and index processing engine based on the document type, the document type comprising at least one of a plurality of document types used by an electronic health record (EHR) system, extract index data from the document based on the document type using the classification and index processing engine, and match the document with a patient from a database of the EHR system using the index data when the classification and index processing engine successfully indexes the document and extracts index data from the document.
