An image capturing apparatus including a mounting part capable of attaching/detaching a device capable of at least storing a captured image, is provided. The image capturing apparatus obtains an execution instruction of image analysis processing, and if a device mounted in the mounting part includes a first processing function for executing the image analysis processing for an image captured by the image capturing apparatus, determines whether to cause the first processing function to execute the image analysis processing based on the execution instruction.

A communication device includes a first holding unit which holds a disk-like first recording medium capable of storing information and a second holding unit which holds a second recording medium which is different from the first recording medium. The communication device further includes a request reception unit configured to receive a request for information indicating a recording medium which is usable by the communication device from a terminal device, and a transmission unit configured to transmit information indicating the first recording medium and information indicating the second recording medium held by the second holding unit to the terminal device when the request is received.

A system and method for establishing a secure identity for a printing device at the time of manufacturing is provided. The method includes obtaining a first private key for use with a first operation of the printing device and obtaining a second private key for use with a second operation of the printing device. The method also includes loading the first private key into a secure memory portion of the printing device during manufacturing of the printing device, and loading the second private key into the secure memory portion of the printing device during manufacturing of the printing device.

The communication device further includes a request reception unit configured to receive a request for information indicating a recording medium which is usable by the communication device from a terminal device, and a transmission unit configured to transmit information indicating the first recording medium and information indicating the second recording medium held by the second holding unit to the terminal device when the request is received.

In a case where a driver for a system authentication application preinstalled in an image formation apparatus is active, a display unit displays a screen such that issuance of an instruction to perform authentication based on an authentication method using an IC card is performable. In a case where a driver for a general authentication application installed in the image formation apparatus in accordance with an instruction from a user is active, the display unit displays the screen such that issuance of an instruction to perform authentication based on the authentication method using the IC card is not performable.

In accordance with an embodiment, the image forming apparatus comprises a display section, a connection section and a controller. The connection section connects with a device having a storage section. The controller detects connection and disconnection with the connection section and does not display a first screen displayed on the display section due to the connection with the device if the disconnection is detected.

An image reading apparatus includes an image reading device, a communication device, and a control device. The image reading device reads a source document and generates image data. The communication device communicates with an information processing apparatus via a network. The control device includes a processor, and acts as a controller that generates a first image file based on the image data, when the processor executes a control program. When the image data includes code data corresponding to a code indicating a destination of the image file, the controller generates a second image file by deleting the code data from the image data, and transmits the second image file to the destination indicated by the code, and acquired from the code data, through the communication device.
