A sheet conveying apparatus of an embodiment includes a conveyance path along which a sheet can be conveyed, and a plurality of conveyance rollers configured to move a sheet along the conveyance path. A wireless tag reader/writer is configured to read information from, and write information to, a wireless tag of a sheet on the conveyance path. A controller is configured to detect a phase change in response waves received by the wireless tag reader/writer from a wireless tag. The controller is also configured to identify whether a wireless tag is moving along the conveyance path based on the detected phase change in response waves from the wireless tag. The controller controls the wireless tag reader/writer to write information to the wireless tag identified as moving along the conveyance path.

An image processing apparatus includes a management unit configured to manage a shortcut in association with one or more pieces of card information and a control unit configured to execute display control on a display, wherein, when first card information and second card information are managed in association with a first shortcut, the control unit executes control on a screen for the function corresponding to the first shortcut to display in a state where the corresponding group of setting values is applied to the function even if either one of the first card information and the second card information is read. A sheet conveyance device has a sheet conveyance path with a first path and a second path. A wireless tag communication device can write information to a wireless tag on a sheet on the first and second paths and receive responses from the wireless tag. A controller controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while on the first path, then determines whether information has been written to the wireless tag on the first path according to a response received from the wireless tag. The controller switches a conveyance destination for the sheet to the second path if the information has not been written or to a discharge location if the information has been written. The controller then controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while the sheet is on the second path.

The terminal device transmits a print instruction including user information of a user of the terminal device to the image forming device in a case where near field communication with the image forming device is established. The image forming device identifies print data corresponding to the user information included in the print instruction from among a plurality of held print data and controls printing based on the identified print data on the basis of a password for printing.

According to an embodiment, a control device for an image forming apparatus includes a controller that acquires reference information corresponding to expected signal strength values from a wireless tag on a sheet moving along a conveyance path and also acquires measured signal strength values for a first wireless tag on a sheet from a wireless tag communication device. The controller calculates a similarity value from the measured signal strength values and the expected signal strength values to determine whether the first wireless tag is on a sheet moving along the conveyance path. The controller controls the wireless tag communication device to write information to the first wireless tag when the calculated similarity value is above a threshold similarity value.
