An MFP stores a plurality of different pieces of biometric information of a user and a plurality of secret keys respectively corresponding to the pieces of biometric information in the TPM and registers public keys corresponding to the private keys in a server. When an authentication request is received from the server, the MFP executes a biometric authentication process using the biometric information input from the user and the biometric information registered in the TPM. If authentication is successful in the biometric authentication process, the MFP creates signature data and transmits it to the server. If verification of the signature data using the public key in the server is successful, the MFP performs display related to a shortcut process associates with the biometric information corresponding to the secret key used when the signature data that is a target of the verification is created by an input and output device.

A display input device includes a reception processing portion, a change processing portion, and a display processing portion. The reception processing portion, based on correspondence information indicating a correspondence between a plurality of characters and a plurality of operation keys used for inputting a password of a preset number of characters, receives an operation of any one of the operation keys as an input operation of a character corresponding to the operation key. The change processing portion changes the correspondence relationship when the operation of the operation key is performed a preset specific number of times that is less than the number of characters of the password, or at a preset specific interval. The display processing portion displays the correspondence information at a predetermined position, different from a position of the operation keys, on an input screen used for inputting the password.

A method of controlling an information processing apparatus and an information processing apparatus are provided. The information processing apparatus detects whether or not a control program stored in a storage has been falsified, updates the control program to a valid control program in accordance with a detection of the detecting unit that the control program has been falsified, and initializes setting data set in the information processing apparatus in accordance with an update of the control program.

An information processing apparatus including a push switch turns off a power supply state of a main body and starts shutdown processing when a first user's operation is performed on the push switch in a normal state of the apparatus. When a second user's operation is performed on the push switch during the shutdown processing, the power supply state of the main body is switched between on and off. If the power supply state of the main body is the on state when the shutdown processing is completed, first processing for restarting the main body is performed, and if the power supply state of the main body is the off state when the shutdown processing is completed, second processing for stopping power supply to the main body is performed.

The system also includes a server that stores data transferred from the information processing apparatus, and controls transferring data to the information processing apparatus based on a request for transferring data received from the information processing apparatus.

An information processing apparatus which is capable of reliably switching display languages in response to depression of a language switching button. A display language on a display unit is switched to a language selected by a user from a list of languages displayed on the display unit. In response to selection of a language switching button by the user, the display language on the display unit is switched to one of a plurality of languages associated with the language switching button. Currently-displayed language information indicating a language currently displayed on the display unit is obtained when the language switching button is selected by the user. When the language switching button is selected by the user, the display language on the display unit is switched to one of the plurality of languages associated with the language switching button and different from a language currently displayed on the display unit.

An operation apparatus operates an electronic device. The operation apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a first image from the electronic device; an image generator configured to generate a second image including the first image received by the receiver; a message setter configured to set a message corresponding to a status of the electronic device, with respect to the first image included in the second image; a display configured to display the second image; and a voice sound outputter configured to output, by voice sound, the message set with respect to the first image, in response to a user operating the first image included in the second image being displayed.

According to examples, an apparatus may include a control panel and a control panel processor, which may detect a user input on the control panel while the apparatus is in a low-power state and may determine whether the detected user input corresponds to a user intent for a working component of the apparatus to be implemented. Based on a determination that the detected user input corresponds to a user intent for the working component to be implemented, the control panel processor may output a first signal to a device engine that causes the device engine to start up the working component. In addition, based on a determination that the detected user input does not correspond to a user intent for the working component to be implemented, the control panel processor may output a second signal that does not cause the device engine to start up the working component.

The reading part reads identification information in a non-contact manner from an RFID tag in which the identification information for identifying a sample image is stored, and the RFID tag is provided on a display medium on which the sample image is displayed. By referring to a storage part in which a plurality of image data including an image data representing the sample image, and a correspondence information data table indicating a correspondence relationship between the plurality of image data and pieces of identification information for identifying the plurality of image data respectively are stored, the determination part determines, from among the plurality of image data, the image data associated with the identification information read by the reading part. The print control part controls printing on a nail based on the determined image data.

An image forming apparatus for authenticating a portable terminal by near field wireless communication with the portable terminal includes an image forming portion configured to form an image on a sheet, and an operating portion configured to receive an operation by an operator. The operating portion includes a display panel capable of displaying information on image formation in response to authentication of the portable terminal and includes therein an antenna for establishing the near field wireless communication with the portable terminal. The display panel is capable of displaying a guide screen for guiding an operator so as to hold the portable terminal over the display panel.
