When the gesture receiving section receives a selection gesture performed on the shortcut button, the setting candidate receiving section receives change to the setting candidate associated with the selected shortcut button.

An image forming apparatus includes a main body and a post-processing device. The main body includes an operation panel and a first controller that switches an action mode to a first action mode or a second action mode. The post-processing device includes an operation receiving section and a second controller. The operation receiving section receives an operation by a user and outputs an operation signal. The operation receiving section is in an unreachable position for the user when operating the operation panel. The first controller switches the action mode upon determining that an operation indicated by the operation signal received through the second controller matches a predetermined operation. The second controller controls action of the post-processing device independent of control by the first controller in the second action mode.

Approach of a mobile terminal is detected. Whether an operation related to performing specific processing has been carried out by a user is determined. A confirmation screen for confirming with the user whether to perform processing corresponding to the operation related to performing the specific processing is displayed when the approach of the mobile terminal is detected and it is determined that the operation related to performing the specific processing has been carried out.

An image forming device includes: a sheet feeder that feeds a sheet; a controller that: discriminates a sheet type of the sheet, and receives a user input to specify a sheet type; and an image forming device that has two setting modes including an automatic discrimination mode in which an image is formed based on the discriminated sheet type and a user specified mode in which an image is formed based on the sheet type specified by the user input. The controller automatically switches one of the two setting modes to the other based on a defined condition.

An image captured by a camera can be processed by a scanning application to identify one or more regions within the image that are suitable for scanning. One or more of these regions can be selected for scanning automatically based on user-input such as a fingertip touch to a particular portion of the display screen. Users may also select multiple regions and submit multiple quadrangular regions for scanning to PDF from a single image.
