An information processing apparatus that communicates with a terminal includes a reception unit configured to receive from the terminal an execution instruction to execute a job using a function of the information processing apparatus, wherein the execution instruction at least includes setting information regarding the job, and a transmission unit configured to, in a case where the reception unit receives the execution instruction to execute the job and a predetermined screen is displayed on a display unit of the information processing apparatus, transmit information for the terminal to display the screen to the terminal having transmitted the execution instruction.

An image forming apparatus includes a first controller, a display panel, a touch panel, a timer, a first storage unit storing a timeout period, and a first communication unit communicating with an external apparatus. When a user selects a predetermined service provided by the image forming apparatus, the first storage unit changes the timeout period to a value obtained from an external apparatus providing the selected service. The first controller uses the changed timeout period to determine whether or not a timeout process is to be performed.

An image reading apparatus includes a document reader, a display section of a screen, an operation reception section configured to receive operation on the screen, and a controller configured to output processing of image data in accordance with output settings. The operation includes simple operation for selecting an output destination to receive output of the image data. When the operation reception section receives the simple operation, the controller starts reading the document by the reader, displays a screen indicating reading in a display period including a read period until reading of the document is completed, and displays another screen after the display period. A computer-implemented method includes activating, by a processor, a privacy notifier mechanism in a recording system to transmit a privacy notification signal when a camera in the recording system is in a ready state to capture images. The method further includes detecting blocking of transmission of the privacy notification signal, and responsive to detecting blocking of the transmission of the privacy notification signal by the processor, disabling the camera.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer, a first reader, a second reader, and a processor. The printer is configured to print an image having diagnostic information on a sheet of paper. The first reader is configured to read a first image from the sheet of paper. The second reader is configured to read a second image from the sheet of paper. The processor is configured to cause a display to display a diagnosis result of a defect based on the first image and the second image.
