A printed material inspection system includes a display and a processor configured to: acquire, as a defect corresponding to a defect criterion, a difference that satisfies the defect criterion among differences between a scanned image obtained by scanning a printed material of an inspection target page among pages configuring a job and a reference image of the inspection target page; highlight the defect in the scanned image on the display and provide defect criterion display that is display for receiving setting for a defect criterion to be applied to the inspection target page on the display; and when a user operation for one of the highlighting of the defect and the providing of the defect criterion display is received, change a display mode of another one of the highlighting of the defect and the providing of the defect criterion display.

A communication terminal communicates with an image forming apparatus to be moved on a medium to perform image formation. The communication terminal includes a display and circuitry configured to receive a notification from the image forming apparatus and to display a preview of an image to be formed by the image forming apparatus. The circuitry is further configured to distinguish, on the preview, one of a plurality of lines included in the image to be formed from a rest of the plurality of lines in accordance with a content of the notification and display operation aiding information for aiding an operation of the image forming apparatus in accordance with the content of the notification.

An image forming apparatus includes a main body and a post-processing device. The main body includes an operation panel and a first controller that switches an action mode to a first action mode or a second action mode. The post-processing device includes an operation receiving section and a second controller. The operation receiving section receives an operation by a user and outputs an operation signal. The operation receiving section is in an unreachable position for the user when operating the operation panel. The first controller switches the action mode upon determining that an operation indicated by the operation signal received through the second controller matches a predetermined operation. The second controller controls action of the post-processing device independent of control by the first controller in the second action mode.

An information processing method, apparatus, and non-transitory recording medium storing instructions for executing an information processing method. The information processing method, performed by a computer connectable to a terminal via a network, includes determining a status of a device based on a first image of the device transmitted from the terminal, specifying a solution for a problem occurring in the device based on the status of the device, displaying a first message on the terminal to indicate the specified solution, displaying a second message on the terminal to request a second image obtained by photographing a specified part of the device or the device in a specified state, updating the status of the device based on the second image, specifying the solution for the problem in accordance with the updated status of the device, and displaying a third message on the terminal to indicate the specified solution for the problem.

A processing device includes a receiver, an execution unit, and an image control unit. The receiver receives selection of a processing selector displayed on a display. The processing selector is related to predetermined processing and executes the predetermined processing when the processing selector is selected. The execution unit executes the predetermined processing when the selection of the processing selector is received. The image control unit controls displaying of an image on the display. When the image control unit causes the display to display a first image including the processing selector, the receiver takes a different approach to receiving the selection of the processing selector in accordance with whether a second image is superposed on part of the processing selector or the second image is not superposed on the processing selector.

A printing apparatus includes first and second acquisition units. First sheet information related to a predetermined sheet attribute set in the printing apparatus and second sheet information related to the predetermined sheet attribute set as a print setting is acquired. Where first and second sheet information do not match, the display unit displays a first part of notification information for notifying a user that they do not match and a predetermined display item of a first display item related to the first sheet information and a second display item related to the second sheet information. Even when no user instruction is given where the first part and the predetermined display item are displayed, a second part of the notification information and an other display item of the first display item and the second display item are displayed instead of the first part and the predetermined display item.
