An information processing apparatus includes a controller. If images related to devices that have been identified are superimposed on one another, the controller causes information about one or plural cooperative functions that use functions of the devices to be displayed.

A processor of an information processing apparatus receives a first setting for a first setting item among a plurality of setting items for an image processing function of an image processing apparatus via an each-time setting window. The processor receives a second setting for the second setting item via a detailed setting window. The processor transmits a first execution command of the image processing function to the image processing device in a case where the display instruction is received. The first execution command is based on the first setting and the second setting. The processor transmits a second execution command of the image processing function to the image processing device in a case where the display instruction is not received via the operation interface. The second execution command is based on the first setting and the default setting for the second setting item.

A data processing apparatus is configured to receive a selection of a first function and search for one or more devices which has the capability to perform that first function. The apparatus may then receive a selection of the one or more devices for performing that first function and, in conjunction, determine whether the selected device has the capability to execute a second function. The device identification data may be stored. Subsequently, if the selected device is determined to be capable of executing the second function, which is different from the first function selected, and the second function is further selected, the previously selected device may be displayed as having the capability to execute the selected second function. Otherwise, the apparatus does not display the previously selected device as being able to execute the selected second function.

An image processing device includes a display unit and a processor configured to determine whether or not functions of the image processing device are executable by the image processing device, and cause the display unit to display a screen including a first item corresponding to a first function that is determined to be executable and a second item corresponding to a second function that is determined to be not executable. The first item is displayed on the screen in a first display format, and the second item is displayed on the screen in a second display format that is less conspicuous than the first display format.

A system for providing help information, including processing circuitry to: acquire, from an information processing apparatus, help request information indicating a request for help information relating to an operation of the information processing apparatus, the help request information including device information of the information processing apparatus and display screen information indicating a display screen displayed on the information processing apparatus; generate help screen information in accordance with the acquired help request information, the help screen information including instruction information for changing a status of the information processing apparatus; and transmit the generated help screen information to the information processing apparatus via a network.

An information processing system includes an image forming apparatus and a server that provides application information of at least one web application to the image forming apparatus. The system includes a memory to store the application information of the web application; and circuitry to receive a selection of a specific web application by a user, compare device information of the image forming apparatus with application information of the selected web application, determine whether an update of firmware of the image forming apparatus is necessary based on a result of the comparison, update the firmware when a result of the determination indicates that the update of the firmware is necessary, generate a shortcut icon of the selected web application after the firmware is updated, and execute the selected web application, which required the update of the firmware of the image forming apparatus, by using the shortcut icon.

A display control device and method configured to recommend, at proper times, that a user use a normal screen rather than a simple screen and increase effective utilization of the normal screen. A normal screen and a simple screen may be displayed for accepting a setting operation. A recommendation may be displayed that a user use the normal screen at proper times, including but not limited to, if every function set by the user on the normal screen is settable on the normal screen, if a setting period exceeds a certain value, if a ratio of functions settable on the normal screen to set functions that is calculated from the operation history regarding the plurality of setting operations is greater than or equal to a predetermined value, if a predetermined number of functions on the normal screen match functions in the operation history information, or by using operation history, acquired information about the set function, a set value, or a setting period.

An information processing system includes an information processing apparatus, an image processing apparatus, a manipulation panel, and a first processor. The manipulation panel includes an input interface and a control circuit operable in a first mode in which the information input to the input interface is transmitted to the image processing apparatus or a second mode in which the information input to the input interface is transmitted to the information processing apparatus. When the first processor determines that the image processing apparatus transitions from a first state in which the input information input is able to be processed to a second state in which the input information is unable to be processed, the first processor instructs the control circuit to transition from the first mode to the second mode and outputs a transition notification to the information processing apparatus.

An information processing apparatus includes a memory to store information of a display status of setting item buttons used for selecting corresponding setting items on a screen, and information of at least one of the setting items corresponding to an error that occurs during information processing as an error-occurred setting item, and circuitry to detect occurrence of the error during the information processing, determine whether a setting item button corresponding to the error-occurred setting item is displayed or not on the screen when the occurrence of the error is detected during the information processing, and display the setting item button corresponding to the error-occurred setting item on the screen based on a determination that the setting item button corresponding to the error-occurred setting item is not displayed on the screen when the occurrence of the error is detected during the information processing.

An electronic apparatus connectable to another electronic apparatus includes an information acquisition unit that acquires operation screen information to display a shared operation screen shared between the electronic apparatus and the other electronic apparatus from the other electronic apparatus, a shared screen display unit that displays the shared operation screen based on the operation screen information that the information acquisition unit acquired, a job execution unit that executes a job based on input to the shared operation screen, an event detector that detects a predetermined event that occurs during the job execution, a display determination unit that determines whether or not a specific screen including information specific to the electronic apparatus model is displayed in response to the detected predetermined event, and a specific screen display unit that changes the displayed shared operation screen into the specific screen if the display determination unit determines that the specific screen is displayed.
