An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion that forms an image on a recording medium, a display portion that displays information regarding image forming with the image forming portion, a memory storing instructions, and a controller, which executes the instructions, that detects a position of an instruction portion in contact with a surface of the display portion and generate first input information indicating the detected position of the instruction portion, and detects a position of the instruction portion at a location a predetermined distance away from the surface in a direction orthogonal to the surface and generate second input information indicating the detected position, and transitions the image forming apparatus into a first input mode for generating the first input information without generating the second input information and transition the image into a second input mode for generating the second input information without generating the first input information.

A system and method for generating customized user interface on a multifunction peripheral. The multifunction peripheral has an intelligent controller with a processor and memory, and a document processing engine with functional subsystems subject to software control by the intelligent controller. The intelligent controller functions as a webserver operating through a network interface. A variety of device control applications are stored with each applications configured to engage a corresponding subset of the functional subsystems. Image files generate an interface image corresponding to a device control application on a touchscreen multifunction peripheral interface. The webserver receives selection data corresponding to at least one selected device control application from an associated web client and outputs a web page displaying image files corresponding to each selected device control application image to the web client via the network interface generating a preview image of a customized user interface.

In a case where it is determined that a document is left behind, a display control unit is configured to control display of an icon using a result of detection by a second detection unit without using at least a result of detection by a first detection unit.

An information processing system includes an information processing apparatus that provides an electronic apparatus with a service by way of a web application. The system includes a memory and circuit. The memory is configured to store information relating to a setting item of the web application, and store a setting value to be set to the setting item. The circuitry is configured to generate a setting screen based on the information relating to the setting item and the setting value, and update the setting value stored in the memory based on an instruction for configuring settings relating to an operation screen of the web application that is displayed at the electronic apparatus, the instruction being accepted through the setting screen being displayed to the terminal apparatus.

An image forming system including plural image forming apparatuses, being tandemly-arranged, and forming an image while assigning an area of a recording sheet, wherein each individual image forming apparatus including a display section which is configured to display various information and a control section which is configured to detect connecting positions of each individual image forming apparatus in the image forming system, and to control each individual display section to display a typical information based on detected results.

An information processing apparatus includes a display unit, a changing unit, an image display unit, and an update unit. The display unit displays a first display area and a second display area. The second display area is an area in which a display element representing a function is disposed. The changing unit changes a setting value of the function to a different setting value in accordance with a received instruction to change a setting. When the setting value of the function is changed, the image display unit displays an image representing the function whose setting value is changed, in the first display area. While the image in the first display area remains to be displayed, the update unit changes the display of the second display area in which information about the function is displayed, in response to a received instruction to update the display.

A method, job management apparatus, and computer program product are disclosed for a job management apparatus, the job management apparatus managing a print job for at least one printer, wherein the code computer readable code configured to cause the job management apparatus to display a job scheduling screen. The process includes (a) obtaining first information on a job to be executed by the at least one printer; (b) obtaining second information on color reproduction state of the at least one printer; and (c) generating the job scheduling screen, wherein the job scheduling screen is a two dimensional chart in which a first axis indicates an execution length of time for the job or a number of sheets of paper to be used for the job, and in which a part of a second axis of the two dimensional chart indicates the color reproduction state of the at least one printer.

An application generator that generates a screen display application for causing an image forming apparatus to execute display processing includes: an acceptance section that accepts arrangement of any one of first objects each being prepared in advance for commanding to execute particular processing, to the screen, or accepts arrangement of a second object, and a third object arranged on another screen and to be associated with the second object, to the screen; a generation section that generates an application for displaying a screen on which one or both of the first object and the second object are arranged, for commanding to execute the particular processing relating to the first object when the first object is selected, and for giving notice of coordinates of the second object when the second object is selected; and an output section that outputs the screen display application and correspondence data.

An information processing apparatus that has a display unit and a plurality of graphic controllers, the apparatus comprises: a detection unit that detects an event that is generated by a user operation on the display unit; a determination unit that determines, when the event is detected by the detection unit, which of the plurality of graphic controllers an application displaying a screen on the display unit uses; and a transmission unit that, based on a resolution of the display unit and information of the application for which the determination is made by the determination unit, converts coordinate information of the user operation that the event indicates to a value of a coordinate system corresponding to the graphic controller that the application uses, and transmits a result of the conversion to the application.
