An image reading apparatus includes a support section in contact with a mounting surface on which the apparatus is mounted, an apparatus body including a reader, the apparatus body, and a position holding section. The position of the apparatus body can be switched between a first position in which the apparatus body is not in use and a second position in which the apparatus body reads a document using the reader, and in which a projected area of the apparatus body on the mounting surface is larger than that in the first position, and the center of gravity of the apparatus body is lower than or equal to a rotation axis center of the apparatus body in a vertical direction viewed in a rotation axis direction of the apparatus body when the apparatus body is in the first position or in the second position.

An image reading apparatus includes a lower unit, and a discharge tray and an upper unit that pivot with respect to the lower unit. An axis center of the discharge tray and an axis center of the upper unit are common, the image reading apparatus includes a first damping portion that damps pivoting of the discharge tray in at least an opening direction, and a second damping portion that damps pivoting of the upper unit in at least a closing direction, and the upper unit is configured to engage with the first damping portion, and, when the upper unit is closed from a state in which at least the discharge tray and the upper unit are opened, in addition to a damping force of the second damping portion, a damping force of the first damping portion is applied to the upper unit.

A document reading apparatus of a printing apparatus includes a document setting unit and a reading unit, the document reading apparatus being provided at a higher position compared to a printing unit. The document setting unit includes a supporting surface configured to support a document, and the reading unit is configured to read the document conveyed from the document setting unit. The document reading apparatus moves to a reading position and to a retracted position at which the document reading apparatus is retracted from the reading position. Furthermore, the printing apparatus includes a cover member configured to cover the printing unit. The cover member includes an outer surface configured to support and guide the document together with the supporting surface in a case where the document reading apparatus is at the reading position.

A recording apparatus includes a medium mounting section, a feed mechanism, a recording section, a housing, and a reading unit. The reading unit is provided on top of the housing and includes a document feed opening, a transport section, and a reading section. A back cover moves in tandem with a mounting tray, and moves to a closed position in which the back cover covers the opening when the mounting tray is closed and an open position in which the back cover does not prevent the mounting tray from rotating for stowage in the opening when the mounting tray is open. When in the closed position, the mounting tray covers the document feed opening of the reading unit.

A foldable camera stand is disclosed which includes an elongated base plate, an imaging device, and an elongated first arm plate with a first end movably coupled to the base plate and a second end pivotally connected to the imaging device, the first end being opposite to the second end, wherein the imaging device and the first arm plate are approximately in the same plane which is substantially parallel to the base plate when the camera stand is in a folded state.

In a scanner, a medium transport apparatus includes an apparatus main body including a medium transport path from a supply unit, which supplies a medium, to a discharge unit, which discharges the medium, a switcher that switches an attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to a mounting surface on which the apparatus main body is mounted, and a controller that, when the attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to the mounting surface is switched, performs control in accordance with the attitude after the switching.

A foldable camera stand is disclosed which includes an elongated base plate, an imaging device, and an elongated first arm plate with a first end movably coupled to the base plate and a second end pivotally connected to the imaging device, the first end being opposite to the second end, wherein the imaging device and the first arm plate are approximately in the same plane which is substantially parallel to the base plate when the camera stand is in a folded state.

An image reading apparatus includes a support portion in contact with a mount surface on which the apparatus is mounted, an apparatus body portion that is provided so that a position thereof is changeable by being rotated relative to the support portion, and a discharge tray provided so as to be openable/closeable relative to the apparatus body portion, the discharge tray receiving the original. The apparatus body portion is switchable between a first position that is a position while not in use, and a second position in which reading of the original is performed. When the apparatus body portion is in the first position and when the discharge tray is opened from the closed state, the discharge tray switches the apparatus body portion from the first position to the second position.

An image reading apparatus includes a lower unit, and a discharge tray and an upper unit that pivot with respect to the lower unit. An axis center of the discharge tray and an axis center of the upper unit are common, the image reading apparatus includes a first damping portion that damps pivoting of the discharge tray in at least an opening direction, and a second damping portion that damps pivoting of the upper unit in at least a closing direction, and the upper unit is configured to engage with the first damping portion, and, when the upper unit is closed from a state in which at least the discharge tray and the upper unit are opened, in addition to a damping force of the second damping portion, a damping force of the first damping portion is applied to the upper unit.

A multi-function peripheral includes: a body; a scanner being disposed on the body and outside the body and performing sheet-fed image acquiring on a document; a discharge tray having a fulcrum about which the discharge tray is pivotally disposed on a lower section of the body lower than and away from the scanner, and can be rotated to a receiving state to receive the document scanned by the scanner; and a printer, which is disposed in the body and electrically connected to scanner, and performs a printing function according to a signal generated after the sheet-fed image acquiring.
