A flip cover device is provided and includes a cover, a main body and a hinge. The hinge is disposed on the main body and pivotally connected to the cover in a detachable manner for allowing the cover to pivotally unfold relative to the main body. The hinge includes a hinge body and a notch structure formed on the hinge body. The cover abuts against the main body when the cover pivotally unfolds relative to the main body to an unfolded position along a first pivoting direction. When the cover is located at the unfolded position and forced by a torque along the first pivoting direction, the cover is driven by a reaction force provided by the main body to disengage from the hinge, which prevents a damage of the cover caused by an improper and excessive pivotal movement of the cover. A recording device includes a housing including a recording mechanism unit configured to perform recording on a target recording medium, and a recording mechanism unit cover configured to rotate, by a rotational shaft along a first side surface of the housing, between an open state of an upper surface of the housing being open and a closed state of the upper surface of the housing being closed. The recording mechanism unit cover is configured to be inside the housing in the closed state and a second side surface and a third side surface of the recording mechanism unit cover that intersect the first side surface of the housing in the closed state are provided with a rib configured to support a second side surface or a third side surface of the housing that intersects the first side surface of the housing.

A printer includes a restrictor that is configured to switch between a restricted state that restricts a scanner unit from pivoting in an opening direction from a closed state in which the scanner unit is closed with respect to the casing, and a free state that allows the scanner unit to pivot in the opening direction from the closed state, and that enters the restricted state when the panel unit is set to a first orientation and enters the free state when the panel unit in the first orientation pivots by a predetermined angle to be in a second orientation.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion provided with an opening portion through which a cartridge is removably mounted and a cover member opening and closing the opening portion. An original reading portion is pivotable about a first rotation axis. The cover member is pivotable about a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis. A force is applied to pivot the original reading portion so that an engagement portion of the original reading portion slides on a sliding face of the cover member to apply a force from the engagement portion to the sliding face to pivot the cover member. In a cross section orthogonal to the first rotation axis, a first portion of the sliding face approaches the original reading portion from one end side on which the first and the second rotation axes are provided toward an opposite side.

An image reading device includes a reading main unit including a document platen capable of being loaded with a document, a document cover configured to press the document against the document platen, and a hinge mechanism configured to move between a first position and a second position with respect to the reading main unit, wherein the reading main unit includes a first abutment portion capable of abutting the document cover, and wherein an open angle of the document cover with respect to the document platen is regulated to a first angle by abutment between the document cover and the first abutment portion when the hinge mechanism is in the first position, and the open angle is regulated to a second angle larger than the first angle by a regulation portion provided in the hinge mechanism when the hinge mechanism is in the second position.

A scanner assembly for portably scanning documents is disclosed. The scanner assembly includes a board and a cradle assembly. The cradle assembly includes a first cradle member and second cradle member spaced from one another, coupled to the board, and configured to receive the scanner. The cradle assembly includes a support bracket disposed between and coupled to the first and second cradle members. The cradle assembly also includes a lock assembly coupled to the first cradle member and movable between a first position where the scanner is fixed to the first and second cradle members and a second position where the scanner is removable from the first and second cradle members. The first and second cradle members and the support bracket of the cradle assembly are movable along the board for allowing the scanner to scan documents disposed on the board.

A supported portion of a cover member is rotatably supported by a main support portion of a main body, and is slidable with respect to the main support portion along an extending direction of the cover member. A first joint portion of a link member is rotatably supported by a joint support portion. A second joint portion of the link member is engaged with a joint guide portion slidably along the extending direction. When the cover member is in an open position, a cover engagement portion engages with a main body engagement portion, and the second joint portion engages with a guide base end of the joint guide portion. When the cover member is in the open position, a moment load of the cover member around the second joint portion acts as a force for holding the engagement between the cover engagement portion and the main body engagement portion.

A supported portion of a cover member is rotatably supported by a main support portion of a main body, and is slidable with respect to the main support portion along an extending direction of the cover member. A first joint portion of a link member is rotatably supported by a joint support portion. A second joint portion of the link member is engaged with a joint guide portion slidably along the extending direction. When the cover member is in an open position, a cover engagement portion engages with a main body engagement portion, and the second joint portion engages with a guide base end of the joint guide portion. When the cover member is in the open position, a moment load of the cover member around the second joint portion acts as a force for holding the engagement between the cover engagement portion and the main body engagement portion.
