An image forming apparatus includes a scanning section, a storage section, an image forming section, and a control section. The scanning section scans an image formed on a first side of the recording medium to obtain scanned image data. The storage section stores therein specific information data indicating a specific image or a specific character string. The control section controls the scanning section and the image forming section. The image forming section forms an image based on input image data on a second side of the recording medium. The control section determines whether or not the input image data includes the specific information data and the scanned image data includes the specific information data and determines based on a result of the determination whether or not to control the image forming section to form a masking image on the first side of the recording medium.

A document conveying device is used in common for a double-sided reading specification in which images on one face and the other face of a document conveyed along a conveying path are read and for a single-sided reading specification in which the image on the one face of the document is read. The document conveying device includes a recess, a cover member and a supporting part. In the recess, a member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is supported at the double-sided reading specification. The member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is used for reading the image on the other face. The cover member closes the recess at the single-sided reading specification. By the supporting part, the member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is detachably supported at the double-sided reading specification and the cover member is detachably supported at the single-sided reading specification.

An image reading device includes a reading member and a skew detector. The reading member reads an image of a passing document at a read position preset in a document transport path. The skew detector detects a skew of the document by selecting one of a first skew detection mode and a second skew detection mode based on information that specifies a method for detecting the skew of the document. The first skew detection mode is a mode in which the skew of the document relative to a transport direction is detected based on an image of a leading-edge section, in the transport direction, read by the reading member. The second skew detection mode is a mode in which the skew of the document relative to the transport direction is detected based on an entire image read by the reading member.

An example image forming apparatus includes an image forming part, a plurality of batches type sheet-feeding part to sequentially feed a plurality of sheets, and a processor. The processor is to reconfigure, based on receiving a print command to duplex print a document into a plurality of copies, a printing order of the plurality of copies to one print job with respect to the print command, control the plurality of batches type sheet-feeding part to feed sheets to feed sheets according to the reconfigured printing order, and control the image forming part to print the document according to the reconfigured printing order.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveyance unit including a first driving roller and a second driving roller to convey a sheet, an image reading unit to read an image on the conveyed sheet at a reading position between the first driving roller and the second driving roller in a sheet conveyance direction, and a driving source to output a driving force for driving the first driving roller and the second driving roller. A first pulley is fixed to the first driving roller, a second pulley is fixed to the second driving roller, and a transmission belt is wound around the first pulley and the second pulley. An outer diameter of a belt-wound-part of the second pulley is smaller than an outer diameter of a belt-wound-part of the first pulley, the belt-wound-parts of the first pulley and the second pully being parts around which the transmission belt is wound respectively.

A sorter processes trading cards in an affordable, accurate, and easy-to-use manner. The sorter includes an input and output bin. A transport path moves cards between the bins and has two scan bars, one above and one below the path. The scan bars capture an image of a top and bottom surface of ones of the cards. A controller coordinates movement of the cards along the path and receives the image for processing. Users interact with the controller by way of an interface to influence the processing. The sorter also includes a coil to detect metal foil on the cards. Other embodiments are envisioned.

The time for detecting an object position for measuring a print position displacement is shortened. A printing apparatus control method includes printing, by a printing unit, an image including an object on a sheet; reading, by a reading unit, the image on the sheet on which the image including the object is printed; generating first image data according to the reading of the image by the reading unit; determining an area to detect a position of the object from second image data generated based on the generated first image data having resolution lower than that of the second image data; detecting the position of the object from the determined area; obtaining a print position based on the position of the object detected by the detecting unit; and controlling, based on the obtained print position, the printing unit to print the image on the sheet.

A reading device includes a conveyance control section for controlling document conveyance. In a case of double-sided reading of a document and with a cutout document mode applied, the conveyance control section stops a pair of reverse-rotation rollers at a time point when the document has been conveyed by a distance resulting from adding an additional distance, which is predetermined or determined based on a recognized cutout width in the document conveyance direction, to a reference distance since a time point of passage of a rear end of a document-detecting detection part, and thereafter start reverse rotation of the pair of reverse-rotation rollers.

An image reading substrate includes: an image reading unit that assigns read signals of an image to plural output terminals and outputs the read signals; at least one high-speed serial transmitting unit that is connected to the plural output terminals; and an outputting unit that outputs a high-speed serial signal outside, the high-speed serial signal being transmitted from the high-speed serial transmitting unit, in which at least distances of interconnects from the plural output terminals to the high-speed serial transmitting unit are set to be equal.

A document conveying apparatus of the present disclosure includes a document reversing part, a stacking tray stacking the document, a discharge tray provided under the stacking tray, a lift member provided downstream in a document conveyance direction of the stacking tray and configured to be turnable upward such that a downstream end of the document stacked on the stacking tray comes into contact with a feed roller disposed above the stacking tray, a first document conveyance path defined downstream in the document conveyance direction of the feed roller to the document reading part, a second document conveyance path defined from the document reading part to the discharge tray, and a third document conveyance path defined from a middle of the second document conveyance path through the document reversing part. A bottom surface part of the lift member defines a part of an upper part of the third document conveyance path.
