A sheet discharging apparatus includes a first stacking unit to stack a sheet discharged by a first discharge unit, a second stacking unit disposed below the first stacking unit to stack the sheet discharged by a second discharge unit, and a lifting unit to lift and lower the first and second stacking units. A detection unit changes an output value based on contact of a matter with a lower surface of the first stacking unit, and a distance estimation unit estimates a distance between the first stacking unit and the second stacking unit. A separation process lifts the first stacking unit to increase a distance between the first and second stacking units in a vertical direction in a case where the output value changes based on contact of the matter with the lower surface of the first stacking unit and the estimated distance being smaller than a threshold value.
Sheet conveying device capable of switching conveyance route of sheet, image processing apparatus, and sheet conveying method
A sheet conveying device includes a reception processing portion and a conveyance control portion. The reception processing portion receives an input operation to input conveyance route information that indicates which of a first conveyance route, leading to a first discharge portion via a first conveyance path that extends straight from a sheet placement portion, and a second conveyance route, leading to a second discharge portion, which is different from the first discharge portion, via a second conveyance path that includes a curved portion branching off from the first conveyance path, each sheet included in a sheet stack placed on the sheet placement portion is conveyed along. The conveyance control portion sequentially conveys each sheet included in the sheet stack placed on the sheet placement portion along either the first conveyance route or the second conveyance route according to the conveyance route information input through the input operation.

An image reading apparatus connectable to a post-processing apparatus includes an image reading unit for transmitting image data to an inspection processing unit, and a communication unit for outputting a sheet discharge timing signal to the post-processing apparatus through a signal line. The communication unit outputs the sheet discharge timing signal having different waveforms to the post-processing apparatus on the basis of an inspection result of a sheet obtained from the inspection processing unit such that the sheet discharge timing signal includes a first waveform when the sheet determined by the inspection processing unit as that there is no image abnormality is discharged and such that the sheet discharge timing signal includes a second waveform different from the first waveform when the sheet determined by the inspection processing unit as that the image abnormality occurs is discharged.

A first inspection apparatus registers an image scanned from a print product printed by a first printing apparatus as a first reference image, and registers information of a print job related to printing of the image with the image and first configuration information indicating configuration of the first printing apparatus. A second inspection apparatus imports the first reference image registered in the first inspection apparatus and registers the imported first reference image as the second reference image. Based on information of the print job registered with the first reference image, the first configuration information, and the second configuration information indicating the configuration of the second printing apparatus, it is controlled whether the first reference image is registered as the second reference image by reversing a front and back of the first reference image or as the second reference image without reversing the front and back of the first reference image.
Methods and systems for reserving a tray for special media printing while submitting a document for printing
The disclosure discloses methods and systems for allowing a user to reserve a tray for special media printing while submitting a document for printing, the method is implemented at a print driver application running on a computing device. The method includes receiving a print request for the document through the print driver application. A user interface is provided to the user including one or more print attributes, wherein at least one print attribute includes special media option. Upon selection of the special media option, a list of one or more trays available at at least one multi-function device for special media printing is displayed. Thereafter, the user is allowed to select a tray from the displayed tray list for reservation for special media printing at the at least one multi-function device.

The operation unit is disposed on one side with respect to an apparatus center of the image forming apparatus in a left-right direction orthogonal to a direction from the front side to the rear side. A conveyance center of the document feeding portion in the left-right direction is disposed on the other side with respect to the apparatus center in the left-right direction.
