The recording unit records the image by imparting recording materials. The acquisition unit acquires a recording job instructing recording of the image. The determination unit determines, in a case where sheet discharge destination information included in the recording job indicates the first sheet discharge portion, whether a recorded product of an n-th page is dischargeable to the first sheet discharge portion, wherein n is greater than or equal to one. The reception unit receives, in a case where a result of the determination by the determination unit is that recorded product is not dischargeable to the first sheet discharge portion, an instruction about recording of the n-th page from a user.

A reading apparatus includes a reading device and circuitry. The reading device reads a recording medium in a direction intersecting a conveyance direction of the recording medium. The circuitry detects a reference image for cutting processing of the recording medium, based on read information read by the reading device.

A printing apparatus includes a conveyor, a print engine, and a processing device. The conveyor is configured to convey a print medium in a conveyance direction. The print engine includes a print head, and a platen configured to support the print medium conveyed by the conveyor. The print engine is configured to perform image printing on the print medium supported by the platen while moving the print head in a first direction intersecting the conveyance direction. The processing device has a processing unit removably attached thereto. The processing device is configured to perform a processing process to divide the print medium conveyed by the conveyor into a plurality of media. The processing unit has an identification section for identifying a type of the processing process executable by the processing unit.

An image processing device reduces influence from delay due to one or more post processors and efficiently utilizes resources of an image former, to improve productivity. The image processing device includes: a job taker configured to take a print job; and a print data producer configured to output print data to an image former, configured to form an image on a sheet, and control a cutter configured to cut, inline, the sheet having the image formed and the image former. When the job taker takes a first print job to use the cutter and then takes a second print job not to use the cutter, the print data producer executes the first print job concurrently with the second print job.

A reading apparatus includes a reading device and circuitry. The reading device reads a recording medium in a direction intersecting a conveyance direction of the recording medium. The circuitry detects a reference image for cutting processing of the recording medium, based on read information read by the reading device.

Various embodiments disclose a method for operating a printer apparatus that includes a print head. The method includes causing a media hub to retract a media in a retract direction along a media path. Further, the method includes causing a first media sensor to generate a first signal during retraction of the media. Furthermore, the method includes monitoring the first signal to detect at least one of a leading edge or a trailing edge of a label of the plurality of labels. Upon detecting the at least one of the leading edge or the trailing edge of the label, causing the media hub to retract the media by at least a predetermined distance, wherein the predetermined distance is a distance between the print head and the first media sensor.

Various embodiments disclose a method for operating a printer apparatus that includes a print head. The method includes causing a media hub to retract a media in a retract direction along a media path. Further, the method includes causing a first media sensor to generate a first signal during retraction of the media. Furthermore, the method includes monitoring the first signal to detect at least one of a leading edge or a trailing edge of a label of the plurality of labels. Upon detecting the at least one of the leading edge or the trailing edge of the label, causing the media hub to retract the media by at least a predetermined distance, wherein the predetermined distance is a distance between the print head and the first media sensor.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a detection device, and a controller. The controller classifies, when image data representing a plurality of cut patterns each having a color is inputted, the plurality of cut patterns by putting the cut patterns having the color of a same family in a same group, according to classification information indicating a plurality of colors classified by family, places the groups of the classified cut patterns on different pages, generates a cutting line representing a contour of each cut pattern, selects the cassette from which a recording medium color of the same family as the family of the cut patterns placed has been detected by the detection device, with respect to each page, supplies the recording medium from the selected cassette, with respect to each page, and forms the generated cutting line on the recording medium, with respect to each page.

A controller of a printing apparatus is configured to, in a case where first print data is received from a first external device, determine whether the control mode is set to a continuous mode by a selection instruction from a second external device. In a case where it is determined that the control mode is set to the continuous mode, the controller stores the first print data in the memory without printing based on the received first print data, and determines whether a predetermined condition for performing processing under a usual mode is satisfied, after storing the first print data in the second processing. In a case where it is determined that the predetermined condition is satisfied, the controller controls the print head to print on a printing medium based on the first print data, and controls a cutter to cut the printed medium.
