METHOD, APPARATUS AND STORAGE MEDIUM FOR ESTIMATING THE DATA VOLUME OF A DIGITAL BOOK
20170339293 · 2017-11-23 · ·

A processor randomly selects a page image group corresponding to a predetermined number of pages, such as five pages, from scan images of all the pages of a book, and clips a predetermined area (evaluation area) from each of the selected page images. Subsequently, the processor performs, on each clipped image, color correction and compression at a compression rate in accordance with an image quality specified via a user interface, and derives the data volume of each clipped image subjected to the processing. In addition, based on the data volumes of the clipped images subjected to the processing, the processor derives estimated one page data volumes Then, by using the estimated one page data volumes, the processor derives an estimated data volume of a digital book corresponding to the total pages of the book.

IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS

An image processing apparatus comprises a scanner section and an area determination section. The scanner section reads the light reflected from an original document after the light penetrates a light diffusion sheet to output first image data, wherein the light diffusion sheet has a surface for diffusing the light reflected from the original document including a mirror reflection area; and the area determination section determines the mirror reflection area with respect to the first image data output from the scanner section.

Document reading device that detects orientation of image read from spread document
09749487 · 2017-08-29 · ·

A document reading device includes a reading section, an orientation detecting section, an orientation determining section, and a notification section. The reading section reads images of respective pages of a spread document one at a time. The orientation detecting section sequentially detects orientations of respective images read by the reading section. The orientation determining section determines whether or not the orientation detecting section detects orientation alternation between a first orientation and a second orientation opposite to the first orientation for a read image read by the reading section. The notification section notifies an error upon the orientation determining section determining that the orientation detecting section does not detect orientation alternation between the first orientation and the second orientation.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, RECORDING MEDIUM RECORDING CONTROL PROGRAM, AND CONTROL METHOD

An image forming apparatus includes an image reading unit. When printing a postcard is selected, a preview screen including a preview image about an image on a communication side of the postcard read by the image reacting unit is displayed on a display. At this occasion, an instruction image indicating an orientation of an address side of the postcard is also displayed. When it is instructed to turn over the preview image on the communication side, the preview screen including the preview image on the address side is displayed on the display. When the orientation of the address side and the orientation of the communication side do not coincide with each other, or when they are not as intended by a user, printing is performed after the image on the communication side is rotated according to the user's operation.

Image forming apparatus executing a job based on a job request and logout method

An image forming apparatus includes: a tray on which at least one sheet is loaded; a sensor and a controller. The sensor measures overall weight of the sheet loaded on the tray. The controller calculates decrement from the overall weight measured by the sensor upon completion of a job. The controller calculates total weight of the sheet loaded on the tray through execution of the job. The controller executes a logout process based on the decrement and the total weight.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DETECTING RISE OF RECORDING MEDIUM

An image forming apparatus includes a reading table, an image reading device, an image forming device with an exposure device, and circuitry. The reading device reads a pattern on a recording medium on the table, and generates image data of the pattern. The exposure device includes a light emitting element to form an electrostatic latent image, based on which the image forming device forms the pattern. Based on first and second correction values, the circuitry calculates a third correction value to correct a light amount of the light emitting element. The exposure device includes a driving device that drives the light emitting element based on the third correction value. The circuitry sets at least two or more determination areas in each of a white area and a pattern area of the medium, and determines whether the medium has a rise based on density data in the determination areas.

IMAGE READING APPARATUS HAVING SENSOR FOR DETECTING SHAPE OF FED DOCUMENTS, CONTROL METHOD FOR CONTROLLING IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM HAVING STORED THEREIN CONTROL METHOD

An image reading apparatus includes a conveying unit configured to convey a document, a reading unit configured to read an image on the conveyed document, a measurement unit configured to measure a distance from an upper portion of a sheet feeding port for the document to an upper surface of the document, and a control unit configured to, according to the distance measured by the measurement unit, suspend the conveyance of the document by the conveying unit. According to a user operation for reading again the document of which the reading is suspended by the control unit, the conveying unit conveys the document and the reading unit reads the image on the document, and while the document of which the conveyance is suspended is conveyed again, the control unit does not suspend the conveyance of the document based on the distance measured by the measurement unit.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS IMPROVED IN SETTING PROCESS FOR RECORDING MEDIUM, METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
20210377410 · 2021-12-02 ·

An image forming apparatus improved in a setting process for a recording medium to thereby make it possible to prevent print processing from failing to be executed. In the image forming apparatus including a plurality of sheet feeders for storing recording sheets, when recording sheets are stored in one of the sheet feeders, at least one of the recording sheets is conveyed from the corresponding sheet feeder, and the type of the conveyed recording sheet is identified. Then, the identified type of the recording sheet is set as the type of the stored recording sheets. This makes it possible to prevent occurrence of a situation in which print processing is not executed because the identified type of the recording sheet does not match the set type of the recording sheets, whereby it is possible to prevent print processing from failing to be executed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AND TRANSFERRING SHEETS

Provided are systems and methods for identifying, isolating, and/or aligning sheets. An identification system can facilitate accurate identification of a sheet by (i) vacating one or more components of the system that are not the sheet from a zone of detection, and/or (ii) determining a reference axis of the sheet. An isolation system can facilitate accurate isolation of a sheet by (i) providing targeted air flow, and/or (ii) introducing a wave into the sheet. Identification systems and/or isolation systems described herein may facilitate isolation of sheets that were previously fastened together by one or more fasteners. An alignment system can facilitate accurate alignment of a first sheet at an upstream location relative to a second sheet at a downstream location via machine learning.

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

An information processing apparatus includes a sensor that detects a property of a specific sheet, and a processor configured to output information about a sheet that satisfies a set condition regarding a relationship with the property detected by the sensor.
