An image abnormality detecting device includes an image reader, an abnormality detector, a pattern holder, and circuitry. The image reader is configured to read an image on a recording medium. The abnormality detector is configured to detect abnormality of the image based on read information of the image on the recording medium, read by the image reader. The pattern holder has a check pattern and is disposed within a reading area of the image reader. The circuitry is configured to inspect a detecting operation of the abnormality detector based on read information of the check pattern read by the image reader.

An example marking device may include a sensing device, a media conveyance component, and a controller. The sensing device may be arranged in a media path to sense data encoded on media. The media conveyance component may feed a medium into the media path and advance the medium a first distance less than a length of the medium. And the controller may receive timing signals indicative of read timing markings from the sensing device, receive data signals indicative of media characteristic markings from the sensing device, and alter marking parameters of the marking device based on the to be received data signals.

A print management system having a control apparatus and an image forming apparatus with sheet feeding cassettes includes a sheet data registration unit to register sheet data indicating an attribute of each print sheet, a sheet feeding cassette selection unit to select a sheet feeding cassette, and a sheet data selection unit to select sheet data about at least one type of print sheet from the registered sheet data. An adjustment value setting unit sets adjustment value information during image formation while feeding the selected print sheet and a database setting unit sets, in association with each other, the attribute of the selected sheet feeding cassette, the selected sheet data about the print sheet, and the set adjustment value information. The database setting unit allows setting to one piece of sheet data adjustment value information about each sheet feeding cassette selected by the sheet feeding cassette selection unit.

A reading device, an image forming apparatus, and a method of correction. The reading device includes a scanner configured to read an image in a first wavelength range and an image in a second wavelength range from light reflected by a surface of a recording medium, a detector configured to detect a change from a reference position in a reading-depth direction when the surface of the recording medium is read by the scanner, based on an amount of characteristic read from the image in the second wavelength range, and a corrector configured to correct the image in the first wavelength range based on the change detected by the detector. The image forming apparatus includes the reading device, and an image forming device configured to form an image corrected by the corrector of the reading device on a recording medium. The method includes reading the image in the first wavelength.

A print instructing device includes: a recording section that, in a case in which history information does not include size information indicating a size of a print medium designated by a print demand that demands an execution of printing, records paper quality information indicating a paper quality of the print medium designated by the print demand in association with the size information in the history information; and a display controlling section that, in a case in which the size information is included in the history information and the paper quality information does not match the history information corresponding to the size information, causes confirmation information confirming whether or not to change the designated paper quality to be displayed.

A medium transportation device includes a supply roller configured to send a medium downstream, at least one stopper configured to be switched between a blocking state in which the at least one stopper blocks the transportation path and an open state in which the at least one stopper opens the transportation path, and a controller configured to perform skew correction control in which a leading edge of the medium is brought in contact with the at least one stopper in the blocking state to correct skew of the medium. The controller is configured to obtain information about a stiffness of the medium and, when a second medium having a lower stiffness than a first medium is transported, the controller switches the at least one stopper from the blocking state to the open state to end the skew correction control earlier than the skew correction control of the first medium.

An image reading device includes a transparent member unit including a transparent member, an opposing member opposed to the transparent member, and a reading mechanism. The reading mechanism irradiates the opposing member and a medium being conveyed between the transparent member and the opposing member with light through the transparent member and receive reflected light from the opposing member and the medium. The reading mechanism includes a position adjuster to which the transparent member unit is secured and a guide to guide the transparent member unit in a direction intersecting a direction of conveyance of the medium to detachably attach the transparent member unit to the reading mechanism. The position adjuster changes a position at which the transparent member unit is secured with respect to the reading mechanism. The transparent member unit is secured to the position adjuster.

An information processing apparatus includes: a processor configured to: acquire information on a folding manner in which a folding device folds a medium; and when the folding manner does not allow reading of a folding position of the medium with the medium folded, cause a display to display information so as to prompt a user to unfold and read the medium.

A bending detection device includes a processor configured to receive a read image obtained by reading a document, and notify a user of a bend in the document based on a determination that the read image has been obtained by reading the document in a bent state.

An image reading device includes a magnetizer that magnetizes a metal object attached to a document, a magnetism detector that is disposed on the downstream side of the magnetizer in a document transport direction from a document stacking table toward the document transport path and detects residual magnetism of the metal object, and a metal object accompaniment determination unit that determines whether or not the metal object is attached to the document based on a detection result by the magnetism detector.
