Document imaging apparatus with leading edge engagement for improved performance
A method and apparatus for processing documents is provided. The documents may be conveyed to a feeder for feeding documents to a scanner. The scanner scans each document to obtain image data and then discharges the document to one or more output or sort locations. The system may include a skew reduction assembly for reducing skew in the documents as the documents are fed to the scanner. The system may also include elements for improving image quality and reducing document damage while the document is scanned. The system may further include features for improving the stacking of the discharged documents.

A printing apparatus includes a printer to print an image on a sheet, a conveying roller for conveying the sheet from the printer along a conveyance path, an optical sensor provided on the conveyance path, the optical sensor detecting the sheet being conveyed, a finisher to perform a finishing process on the conveyed sheet, based on detection information from the optical sensor, an operation panel operable to receive sheet type information about a transparency type of the sheet, and a controller (i) to control the finisher to perform the finishing process on the conveyed sheet if the sheet type corresponds to a first type of translucent sheet, and (ii) to control the operation panel to display a message indicating that the finishing processing cannot be performed if the sheet type corresponds to a second type of translucent sheet being different in transparency from the first.
IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus that forms an image on a sheet, and a finisher that performs a post-printing process with the sheet. The image forming system comprises: a paper path through which the sheet is passed; an electricity eliminator that is arranged in the upstream side of the finisher to apply at least one agent of water and charge to the sheet; and a hardware processor that controls an application amount of the agent to be applied to the sheet by the electricity eliminator based on an amount of charge which is generated on the sheet when the sheet is passing through the paper path.
DOCUMENT CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A document conveying device is used in common for a double-sided reading specification in which images on one face and the other face of a document conveyed along a conveying path are read and for a single-sided reading specification in which the image on the one face of the document is read. The document conveying device includes a recess, a cover member and a supporting part. In the recess, a member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is supported at the double-sided reading specification. The member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is used for reading the image on the other face. The cover member closes the recess at the single-sided reading specification. By the supporting part, the member dedicated to the double-sided reading specification is detachably supported at the double-sided reading specification and the cover member is detachably supported at the single-sided reading specification.

An image forming apparatus includes: an edge detection unit that detects one edge, in a conveyance direction, of a conveyed sheet; a passing detection unit that detects passing of the one edge; a judging unit that judges whether the edge detection unit or the passing detection unit has detected the one edge, within a predetermined monitoring time after the edge detection unit or the passing detection unit detected the one edge; a notifying unit that gives a notification indicating that front-back magnification correction is difficult to perform on the sheet when the judging unit has judged that the one edge is not detected within the monitoring time; an acquiring unit that acquires a desirable front-back magnification correction value input via an input unit according to the notification; and a correction unit that performs a front-back magnification correction process on the sheet, using the acquired front-back magnification correction value.

SCANNING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE
A scanning device and an image forming device are provided. The scanning device includes a control unit and an image detection unit. The control unit is used to control the scanning device to transport an original document at a first speed, and the image detection unit is used to detect a position where the original document reaches. When the image detection unit detects that a front end position of the original document reaches a first scanning preset position, the control unit controls the scanning device to transport the original document at a second speed smaller than the first speed. After the scanning is completed, when the image detection unit detects that a rear end position of the original document reaches a first scanning end position, the control unit controls the original document to be transported at the first speed and discharged.

A medium conveying apparatus includes a plurality of feed rollers spaced in a direction perpendicular to a medium conveying direction, each of the feed rollers rotating independently at a respective speed to feed a medium, a plurality of brake rollers, each of the plurality of brake rollers being located to face a corresponding one of the plurality of feed rollers, a plurality of torque limiters separately provided between one of rotation shafts of the plurality of brake rollers and a corresponding one of the plurality of brake rollers, and a processor to detect a skew of the medium, and correct the skew of the medium by changing the speed of one of the plurality of feed rollers when the skew of the medium is detected.
