IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD
An image processing device includes: a fold unit that folds an adjustment sheet based on a predetermined reference fold position; a punch hole former that forms a punch hole in a stacked portion of the adjustment sheet, created as a consequence of folding of the adjustment sheet; an image reader that reads an image of the adjustment sheet with the adjustment sheet unfolded, in which the punch hole is formed; and a position identifying unit that identifies a position of a fold line using at least positions of a pair of punch hole images which appear in the image of the adjustment sheet and on both sides of the fold line of the adjustment sheet.
Printing apparatus and determination method
A reflected light amount from a patch under a first light source is acquired, and a reflected light amount from the patch under a second light source whose wavelength band is different from the first light source is acquired. The type of a printing medium on which the patch is printed is determined based on the ratio of the two acquired reflected light amounts.
Image reading apparatus that inhibits flat cable from contacting contact glass, and image forming apparatus
An image reading apparatus includes a contact glass, a frame in a box shape, a scanner, a flat cable, and a control unit. The flat cable contains core wires and has a flat shaped flat surface. The flat cable runs inside the frame such that a width direction of the flat surface runs along a direction perpendicular to the lower surface of the contact glass. The flat cable has a side that opposes to the lower surface of the contact glass. The side includes a plurality of document detection sensors in a state where detection directions face the lower surface side of the contact glass. The plurality of document detection sensors are electrically connected to any of the core wires among the plurality of core wires contained in the flat cable, the plurality of document detection sensors outputting detection signals transmitted to the control unit via the core wires.
METHOD OF DETECTING FEEDING STATUS AND PAPER WIDTH
A method of detecting feeding status and width of paper is disclosed in this present invention, steps of the method include: step a, using at least one infrared light transmitter to transmit infrared light signals; step b, using a light-gathering element to gather together the infrared light signals transmitted by the infrared light transmitter; step c, using a light receiver to receive the infrared light signals gathered together by the light-gathering element, when paper is fed forward, the paper will be located between the infrared light transmitter and the light-gathering element, and will cover a part of the light-gathering element so as to cut off a part of the infrared light signals, how many infrared light signals the light receiver received will be changed, a feeding status and a width of the paper is determined according to how many infrared light signals the light receiver received.
Systems and methods for detecting transparent media in printers
A printer that includes systems for detecting transparent medium may include a medium dispenser for transporting print medium along a transport pathway to a print station which receives the print medium. Transmitters and receivers may be positioned on opposite sides of the transport pathway for scanning the print medium with a light beam. The sensor arrangement may be configured to detect deflection of the light beam when a transparent print medium is transported on the transport pathway between the transmitter and the receiver. The results of the scan may be communicated to a controller to facilitate proper print settings.
Image processing apparatus
An image processing apparatus including: a first housing; and a second housing, the second housing including: a base part; a supporting part; an image reader; and a detector, the first housing including: an image forming unit and a cover, wherein: the cover has a 1st region disposed on a lower position of the detector and a 2nd region disposed on an upper position of a moving range of a recording head; the 1st region has a recessed part recessed downward, an inner bottom surface of the recessed part being disposed at a position lower that an upper edge position of the 2nd region; the base part has a housing part; and a lower edge of the detector is lower than the upper edge position of the 2nd region.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus includes: a conveyance unit configured to convey a medium; a sensor configured to sense a medium being conveyed; and a controller configured to control the conveyance unit and acquire a result of the sensing performed by the sensor. The sensor includes a light emitter, a light receiver configured to perform output in accordance with the amount of the received light, and a shielding unit including a transmissive part through which the sensing light transmits. The transmissive part has a shape in which an opening width in a direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the medium changes in the conveyance direction. The controller determines skewing of the medium being conveyed based on change in the amount of light received by the light receiver as the medium passes along the transmissive part and temporal change in accordance with the conveyance of the medium.
Image scanning apparatus
An image scanning apparatus performs operations including: upon detection of a first angle, causing light to be emitted to an original and recording a distribution of reflected light of the emitted light as first read data; upon elapse of a predetermined time from detection of a second angle, causing light to be emitted to the original and recording a distribution of reflected light of the emitted light as second read data; detecting a closed state of a pressure plate based on the second read data; and upon determination of an angle of the pressure plate with respect to the platen being equal to or smaller than a third angle smaller than the second angle in the detection of the closed state, detecting a width of the original in an opening-closing direction of the pressure plate based on a difference between the first and second read data.
