The printer forms the measurement image at four corners of the sheet. The image scanner reads the sheet on which the measurement image is formed by dividing into two parts. The controller generates an entire read image of the sheet from the read image of the measurement image which is read by the image scanner by dividing into two parts. The controller generates an adjustment condition to adjust a position of an image formed by the printer based on the entire read image of the sheet. The controller causes the printer to form the image based on the adjustment condition.

Provided is a document reading apparatus that is able to determine a document size even when there is a large number of target document sizes to be determined. The diagonal-line-identifying unit identifies a diagonal line for determining size in image data that is read by the scanner. The document-size-determining unit determines document size in either a first determining operation or a second determining operation. The first determining operation is based on determining data that is read by arranging the scanner at a large-size determining position after a second opening/closing detecting sensor detects a closed state after detecting an open state. The second determining operation is based on change in the diagonal line for determining size in determining data that is read while the scanner scans from the large-size determining position after a first opening/closing detecting sensor detects a closed state.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image former that forms a document image including a correction image; an image reader; and a calibrator, and performing correction, wherein the document image is designed so that main register marks and a subsidiary register mark are provided, and the calibrator includes a four-corner detector that detects four corners of a sheet of paper, a main register mark reference position detector that detects reference positions of the main register marks, a subsidiary register mark prediction position determiner that predicts and determines prediction positions of the subsidiary register marks, a subsidiary register mark reference position detector that detects a reference position of the subsidiary register mark, a correction image prediction position determiner that predicts and determines a prediction position of the correction image, a measured value obtainer, and a correction value calculator.

Light emitted from a light emission unit based on a first measurement condition is reflected from an image bearing member, and first information is generated based on a measurement result of the image bearing member. Second information is determined based on the first measurement condition, the first information, and a second measurement condition. Light is emitted based on the first measurement condition when a first measurement image is measured, and an image forming condition is generated based on a measurement result of the first measurement image and the first information. Light is emitted based on the second measurement condition when a second measurement image is measured, and the image forming condition is generated based on a measurement result of the second measurement image and the second information.

An information processing apparatus includes circuitry configured to set a blank page handling feature, detect a blank page/blank pages in a document of a print job, and handle the detected blank page/blank pages in the document based on the set blank page handling feature.

An alignment sheet for alignment of an image forming position of a sheet includes a first side and a second side. The first side has a reference image which is formed in a periphery of the first side and which is used for measuring a position of an image on the first side. The second side has a background image with a predetermined area which is formed at a location where the background image does not overlap the reference image. The reference image and the background image are read at the same time by an image reading section while an area with the reference image is folded such that the background image appears as a background.

An image forming apparatus includes an identification-mark making unit. The identification-mark making unit makes a page identification mark for identifying a page, on a predetermined position of a paper sheet during printing. The identification-mark making unit, based on the page identification mark made in a previous printing, includes a correction/addition mark that indicates an existence of a correction page or an additional page since the previous printing in a part of the page identification mark when a new print output is performed.

An image forming apparatus includes a scanner and a printing apparatus, wherein the scanner includes a scanning window; a transport unit configured to transport a document to a top surface of the scanning window; a scan unit configured to obliquely irradiate light to a bottom surface of the scanning window to scan the document; a transport guide member configured to be disposed to face the top surface of the scanning window to guide a transport of the document; and a curved reflection member configured to be coupled to the transport guide member to collect the light irradiated from the scan unit and to reflect the collected light toward the scanning window.
