When image data is stored in a storing device, the writing speed of the image data is avoided from being lowered. An image forming apparatus is provided with a scanner section that reads a sheet, a storing section that stores image data read by the scanner section, and a controlling section that controls the reading by the scanner section and the storing in the storing section. The controlling section issues, to the storing section, a clear command erasing the stored data with respect to the data storage region of the storing section before the reading by the scanner section at the time of executing a job using the scanner section, so that the clearing operation during the writing operation of the image data is not performed.

In an image processing system in which when a paper document is computerized, a file name or the like is set by using a recognized character string obtained by performing OCR processing, so that time and effort of a user when a plurality of documents is computerized en bloc is reduced. Learning data is generated by registering positional information relating to a recognized character string used for setting of a property relating to a scanned image in association with a document form of the scanned image. Then, in a case where the learning data is generated in response to setting of the property being performed for a first scanned image that is selected from a plurality of scanned images included in a list, a scanned image having a document form similar to a document form of the first scanned image is determined among other scanned images included in the list.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on each of media; a plurality of sheet feeding cassettes each configured to store the media; a media sensor which is provided on a conveyance path through which the media are fed from any of the plurality of sheet feeding cassettes to the image forming unit, and is configured to detect a type of the conveyed media; a memory configured to store, for each sheet feeding cassette, the type of media stored in each of the plurality of sheet feeding cassettes; and a controller configured to output, to a display, a selection screen for selecting a sheet feeding cassette in which media to be used in calibration of adjusting a density of the image to be formed by the image forming unit are stored.

An image reading apparatus, having a reader device, a user interface, a communication interface, and a controller, is provided. The controller accepts entry of first receiver-identifying information, in response to entry of a first scan command through the user interface, controls the reader device to read an image of an original material, and stores image data for the read image in relation with the first receiver-identifying information in a predetermined memory area. In response to receiving of a second scan command including second receiver-identifying information that corresponds to the first receiver-identifying information by identifying the same receiver from an information processing apparatus by use of a specific protocol, the controller reads out the image data stored in relation with the first receiver-identifying information corresponding to the second receiver-identifying information included in the second scan command from the predetermined memory area, and transmits the image data to the information processing apparatus.

An image forming apparatus includes a document reader that scans a document and outputs an image of the document, a process selector that selects a process to be executed on the image depending on a document scanning region scanned in the document reader, and a controller that performs control to execute the process selected by the process selector on the image.

An image reading device includes a light source configured to irradiate a subject; a reading unit configured to detect reflected light generated by a subject reflecting light emitted from the light source, to perform reading; and a control unit configured to perform turn-on control on the light source. An image captured by a camera can be processed by a scanning application to identify one or more regions within the image that are suitable for scanning. One or more of these regions can be selected for scanning automatically based on user-input such as a fingertip touch to a particular portion of the display screen. Users may also select multiple regions and submit multiple quadrangular regions for scanning to PDF from a single image.

An image processing apparatus includes a size acquisition unit and a decision unit. The size acquisition unit acquires first size information indicating a first sheet size of a first sheet surface read by an image reading unit. The decision unit decides second image information indicating a second image size of a second image to be stored of a second sheet surface different from the first sheet surface based on first image information indicating a first image size of a first image to be stored based on the first size information.

An information processing apparatus, which assigns metadata in a key-value format to scanned image data obtained by scanning a document, includes: a first obtaining unit configured to obtain a character string extracted from the scanned image data; a second obtaining unit configured to obtain a template of the metadata; a display control unit configured to display a screen for inputting the metadata; and a setting unit configured to set a value in association with the scanned image data, based on operation by a user via the screen, the value corresponding to a key included in the template of the metadata obtained by the second obtaining unit.
