Print media size/color detection using scanner
A user interface of a printer displays instructions to use the printer's document scanner for scanning a sheet of print media (of a stack of print media being added to the paper drawer) in response to a drawer sensor detecting the opening of the paper drawer. The document scanner generates an electronic image of the sheet of print media from the scanning of the sheet of print media. The processor evaluates the electronic image of the sheet of print media to identify the media type and color of the stack of print media being added to the paper drawer. For example, this is done by evaluating the size, color characteristic, transparency, and reflection characteristic of the electronic image of the sheet of print media. Then, the electronic memory records that the paper drawer contains the stack of print media having a specific media type and color.
Recording medium conveyance device, recording medium conveyance method and non-transitory computer-readable recording medium encoded with recording medium conveyance instructions
A recording medium conveyance device includes a storage, a conveyer that conveys a conveyed object, an ultrasonic sensor that outputs a value indicating an attenuation amount of an ultrasonic wave caused by the conveyed object, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor executes a type detection process of detecting a type of the conveyed object based on output of the ultrasonic sensor and storing the type in the storage and an overlay detection process of detecting whether the conveyed object is in an overlay state in which a gap is present based on output of the ultrasonic sensor, and switches to either one of the type detection process and the overlay detection process. The hardware processor executes the type detection process when the type is not stored in the storage and executes the overlay detection process when the type is stored in the storage.
IMAGE READING DEVICE AND IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
In an image reading device, a region securing portion secures six page regions in a storage region of a volatile memory. A first conveyance control portion permits a document sheet conveyance device to convey first three document sheets among a plurality of document sheets in response to securing of the six page regions. A data recording portion stores line image data with specified resolution in the six page regions for each page of the plurality of document sheets. An image processing portion moves the plural pieces of the line image data in sequence from the page regions to a work region, and transfers post-processing data to another device. A second conveyance control portion permits the document sheet conveyance device to convey a fourth document sheet and onward among the plurality of document sheets one at a time in sequence following conveyance of the first three document sheets.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS TRANSMITTING DEVICE IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION AND READING INFORMATION TO PUSH NOTIFICATION SERVER, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE IMAGE READING APPARATUS
In an image reading apparatus, a processor receives an input instructing to control the scanner to read an original, and controls the scanner to generate image data by reading the original. The processor receives device identification information identifying an information processing apparatus from the information processing apparatus. The process executes a first process and a second process. The first process includes: transmitting to a push notification server via the communication interface the received device identification information and reading information, the reading information including at least one of information specifying the controlling the scanner is start and information specifying the controlling the scanner is complete; receiving request information from the information processing apparatus via the communication interface; and transmitting the generated image data to the information processing apparatus in response to receiving the request information.
Automatic scanning of document stack with a camera
Automatically scanning multiple document sheets with a camera includes receiving a video stream while the camera is pointed at the multiple document sheets, detecting presence of a first top page of the multiple document sheets based on the video stream, taking a still photograph of the first top page in response to detecting presence of the first top page, detecting presence of a second top page based on the video stream by confirming that the second top page is different from the first top page and by waiting a predetermined amount of time for an image of the second top page to stabilize, and taking a still photograph of the second top page in response to detecting presence of the second top page. Detecting the pages may include determining that the camera is pointing at the stack of documents and a detected page is not obstructed.
Image sensor-based media tracking
A Contact Image Sensor (CIS) module in combination with a Field-Programmer Gate Array (FPGA) of an image device cooperate to identify, track, and record media document images for media documents being tracked within a valuable media depository/dispenser.
Image reading apparatus, image forming apparatus, image reading method, and recording medium
An image reading apparatus includes: a plurality of light sources to emit light to a target to be read from a plurality of different irradiation positions; an illumination controller to sequentially and alternately turn on or off the plurality of light sources with a blinking cycle not perceptible to the human eye; an image capturing device to photoelectrically convert, pixel by pixel, reflected light of the light emitted to the target from the plurality of light sources to capture a plurality of read images; a memory to store one or more read images of the plurality of read images being captured; and a synthesizer to synthesize preset regions of the plurality of read images using the one or more read images stored in the memory to generate a synthesized read image representing the target, the preset region of each of the plurality of read images having an image level change caused by reflected light that is smaller than a threshold.
IMAGE FORMATION SYSTEM, IMAGE FORMATION SYSTEM CONTROL METHOD, AND COMPUTER-READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM STORING IMAGE FORMATION SYSTEM CONTROL PROGRAM
Provided is an image formation system including a plurality of image formation devices, for example, two image formation devices. The image formation devices each include a human body detector that detects whether human bodies are present in the vicinity of respective image formation devices. The image formation system stores information based on the result of human body detection by the human body detector and manages the tendency of persons in the vicinity of the image formation devices in accordance with the stored information.
IMAGE PROCESSING SYSTEM, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
An image processing system includes one or more processors configured to: in an operation mode of causing a display device to display, for preview, image data acquired by scanning in a first document during transport by a transport mechanism, while the first document is previewed, save the image data being displayed for preview to a recording medium in response to detection of a document feeder of the transport mechanism being loaded with a second document.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND READING METHOD
An image reading apparatus includes an original table on which an original is to be placed, an original pressing member configured to press the placed original toward the original table, a reading unit configured to read light reflected from the original in a plurality of colors while irradiating the original placed on the original table with light and moving a reading position in a predetermined direction, and a storage unit configured to store color data of the original pressing member. The image reading apparatus determines whether or not the original is protruding from the original table based on output values of the plurality of colors, which are read by the reading unit in a region outside a maximum standard size of the original in a direction intersecting with a direction in which the reading unit is moved, and on the color data of the original pressing member.
