There is provided an image scanner apparatus, including: a platen; a carriage including an image sensor that captures an image of a script on the platen; an antenna unit on the carriage; and a controller circuit that controls the carriage to move in a forward way and a backward way in a sub-scanning direction over the platen, detects a position of an NFC (Near Field Communication) tag on the script in the sub-scanning direction via the antenna unit, and then detects a position of the NFC tag in a main-scanning direction via the antenna unit.

When a reading target object that includes a light emitting region is set as a reading target, the light emitting region is detected by a reading mechanism of a reading unit. The reading unit is caused to read the detected light emitting region, and in the reading, a read operation by the reading unit is controlled based on change of an amount of light received from the light emitting region.

A printer includes: a processor; a head configured to perform printing; a sensor configured to detect an amount of movement of the printer; and a scanner configured to acquire an image including a frame described on a material to be printed beforehand, the scanner being disposed forward of the head in a moving direction of the printer. The processor executes during scanning for frame detection over the material to be printed, frame detection processing to detect the frame based on the amount of movement and the image without performing the printing, and during scanning for printing over the material to be printed, print processing to perform the printing with the head based on the frame detected.

A method and system of controlling at least one printbar in a printing system are described. The printing system has one or more of printbars (160, 190) distributed along a media transport. A first image including a reference pattern (240A, 240B) is generated on a print medium (150) with a first printbar (160). A detector (180) then detects a pattern on the print medium. The reference pattern and the detected pattern are used to determine a position of the first image relative to a second printbar (190). This position is used to configure nozzle data for a second image to be generated on the print medium by the second printbar.

It is determined based on processing to be performed on image data generated by reading by a first reading unit and a second reading unit, whether to separate, into image data of the first surface and image data of the second surface, image data that has been generated by reading by the first reading unit configured to read the first surface of a document, and the second reading unit configured to read the second surface of the document, and that includes the first surface and the second surface. When it is determined to separate the image data, the image data including the first surface and the second surface is separated into the image data of the first surface and the image data of the second surface.

A medium conveying apparatus includes a plurality of feed rollers spaced in a direction perpendicular to a medium conveying direction, each of the feed rollers rotating independently at a respective speed to feed a medium, a plurality of brake rollers, each of the plurality of brake rollers being located to face a corresponding one of the plurality of feed rollers, a plurality of torque limiters separately provided between one of rotation shafts of the plurality of brake rollers and a corresponding one of the plurality of brake rollers, and a processor to detect a skew of the medium, and correct the skew of the medium by changing the speed of one of the plurality of feed rollers when the skew of the medium is detected.

An image forming apparatus comprises a sensor, a base, a clamping section and a limiting section. The sensor includes a hook having a claw section. The sensor is held on the base. The clamping section and the limiting section are arranged on the base. The claw section is clamped with the clamping section. The limiting section is elastically deformable when the sensor is mounted on the base. When the claw section is clamped with the clamping section, the limiting section faces the hook from the opposite side of the clamping section so as to limit the position of the hook.

According to the present disclosure, edges of a document image contained in a read image read by an image-reading apparatus including a paper path are detected, a candidate edge-skew occurrence position is detected, a candidate content-skew occurrence position is detected, an accumulated-skew occurrence position is detected based on the candidate edge-skew occurrence position and the candidate content-skew occurrence position, skew of a document rear-part image rearward from the accumulated-skew occurrence position in the conveyance direction is corrected, and image data corrected for accumulated skew is acquired.

An image reading device includes a contact glass, a document transport device, a first reading module, a second reading module, a opposite roller, and roller holders. The opposite roller transports a document while keeping it in close contact with an image reading surface of the second reading module arranged inside the document transport device. The roller holders rotatably support the opposite roller, and on their faces facing the second reading module, a pair of patterns for detection is provided to detect the inclination of the opposite roller. The patterns for detection are each formed to be increasingly wide toward a first end side in the axial direction upstream from an intersection in a central part thereof in the document transport direction, and increasingly wide toward a second end side opposite from the first end side downward from the intersection in the document transport direction.
