An image reading apparatus includes a stacking tray, a feeding roller, a restricting member configured to move to a restricting position and a retracted position, a reading sensor, a reversing roller configured to perform a reversing operation, a first conveyance path, a second conveyance, and a controller. The controller is configured to permit the reversing operation if the controller receives an execution instruction of a double-sided reading job on a sheet having a first size, and prohibit the reversing operation if the controller receives an execution instruction of the double-sided reading job on a sheet having a second size smaller than the first size.

An image reading apparatus includes a stacking tray, a feeding roller, a restricting member configured to move to a restricting position and a retracted position, a reading sensor, a reversing roller configured to perform a reversing operation, a first conveyance path, a second conveyance, and a controller. An image forming apparatus comprises a tray, a conveyor, a detector and a movement mechanism. The tray accommodates at least one document. The conveyor conveys the document placed on the tray. The detector detects that the document is placed on the tray. The movement mechanism moves the tray from a first position to a second position closer to the conveyor than the first position based on the detection that the document is placed on the tray, and after moving the tray from the first position to the second position, moves the tray to the first position based on a setting of a mixed stacking mode in which mixing of the documents with different sizes on the tray is permitted.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveying unit configured to convey a document, a reading unit configured to read an image on the conveyed document, a measurement unit configured to measure a distance from an upper portion of a sheet feeding port for the document to an upper surface of the document, and a control unit configured to, according to the distance measured by the measurement unit, suspend the conveyance of the document by the conveying unit. According to a user operation for reading again the document of which the reading is suspended by the control unit, the conveying unit conveys the document and the reading unit reads the image on the document, and while the document of which the conveyance is suspended is conveyed again, the control unit does not suspend the conveyance of the document based on the distance measured by the measurement unit.

Provided is an image reading apparatus in which a setting screen is displayed upon detecting that a document is placed on the document tray. In a case where a document is placed on an automatic document conveyance device, if a paper jam occurs while using the automatic document conveyance device, a screen of a paper jam is preferentially displayed even when a setting of automatically displaying a selection screen of a sheet thickness is set at the time. This prevents a specific screen desired to be continuously displayed from being hidden upon detecting that a document is placed on a document tray.

An information control apparatus controls a printer device. The printer device performs printing on a sheet fed from a sheet feeder in accordance with a print instruction. The information control apparatus includes a controller. In a case in which the printer device outputs a check sheet while the print instruction is being executed, if a sheet to be used as the check sheet is a prohibited type of sheet to be prohibited from being used as the check sheet, the controller performs control so that the prohibited type of sheet will be switched to a sheet which is preset as a substitute type of sheet and the sheet feeder will feed the sheet preset as the substitute type of sheet.

When a feeding apparatus of a first type is connected to a first mounting surface, a processor outputs, to the feeding apparatus of the first type via a first signal terminal, a control signal. The feeding apparatus of the first type is connected to a second mounting surface, the control unit outputs, to a feeding apparatus of a second type via the second signal terminal, a control command for controlling the feeding apparatus of the first type. When the feeding apparatus of the first type is connected to the second mounting surface, the feeding apparatus of the second type outputs, to the feeding apparatus of the first type via a fourth signal terminal, a control signal based on a control command for controlling the feeding apparatus of the first type outputted from an image forming apparatus.

An image reading device includes: a first reading unit that is provided at an intermediate position of a transport path and that reads an image of a document transported on the transport path; and a transport unit that is disposed on the transport path further upstream than the first reading unit and that transports the document to the first reading unit. The transport unit includes a third driving roller and third driven rollers that hold the document between the third driving roller and the third driven rollers. The third driving roller is provided on a frame main body, and the third driven rollers are provided on a holder member. When a cover is displaced from a closed position to an open position, the holder member is moved so as to separate the third driven rollers from the third driving roller.

A spectral property acquisition apparatus includes: a first conveying device to convey an object in predetermined conveying direction; a color data acquisition device including a plurality of spectroscopic sensors in the conveying direction, the plurality of spectroscopic sensors receive light emitted and reflected by the object to acquire color data on the object; a second conveying device to convey the color data acquisition device in a direction orthogonal to the conveying direction; and circuitry to estimate a spectral property of the object based on the color data. The circuitry controls the first conveying device so as to generate predetermined tension for the object in a color data acquisition area in which the color data on the object is acquired.

An image reader includes a reading device to read an image on a recording medium, a first conveying roller pair upstream of the reading device in a conveyance direction of the recording medium, a second conveying roller pair downstream of the reading device in the conveyance direction, to hold the recording medium together with the first conveying roller pair to convey the recording medium, and a driver to drive the first conveying roller pair and the second conveying roller pair so that a relative relation between a reading position of the reading device and the recording medium held by the first conveying roller pair and the second conveying roller pair is constant. The reading device determines that the image read from the recording medium is effective in a period in which the relative relation is constant.
